Wow. A lot of people on here don't understand what "credible" means.

Someone with a vested interest but genuine knowledge is still more credible than someone on the outside who knows nothing.

I am not arguing that Reed is being honest, only that he is more credible.

Do we need to get the dictionary out for a bit of lesson time?

For what it's worth, I am actually more excited at the thought of signing Van Djik, than I ever was at Toby returning.
Toby was not the Messiah. He was a good CB, who looked good alongside Jose.
I fully expect VVD (should we sign him) to improve as a defender, under Jose's tutelage, whilst giving us an extra edge when pushing forward and from free kicks.

Me too. Toby's one of the best CBs we've ever had, but his injury record always slightly concerned me. I've been following Van Dijk for a few years up here: he's class.

Why would he not choose spurs over us? They pay higher wages for a start

I think linking up with his international team mates was a big factor as well.

Surely you are good at it now if you've been practising it for 20 years. I admire your perseverance as I'd have given up after a couple of weeks if I hadn't got the hang of it by then :)

Right. Please be honest, because this is getting boring, who is more likely to be believed:

Someone who DOES know the truth, but MAY be lying

    or

Someone who DOES NOT know the truth, but may possibly be guessing correctly?

You and I both know the answer. I have followed your posts for a very long time and you are no idiot. I know you don't want to lose this debate. I understand. But come on! I am not claiming that Les Reed is telling the truth - but he is more CREDIBLE than a guy who used to play for us (though he never actually did, did he?) chatting to a random person at a friendly match. You can not deny he is at least 1% more credible (I would argue 80-90% more credible) than your apparently equal witness.

Look back at my first post. The only thing I objected to was your statement that Reed and some goalkeeper are equally credible. You seem to allow a 0% chance of Reed telling the truth - even though you cannot have more than a suspicion this is true. Empirically, you cannot continue this argument unless you either A) have proof that our former goalkeeping number 4 has inside knowledge at boardroom level or B have definite proof that Reed is lying. If you have no proof, the most you can say is you suspect Reed is not credible due to his personal position in this; however, you cannot in all seriousness say he has a 0% chance of telling the truth.

Step down off the horse. Read the actual argument. Accept that your position is untenable and we can all grin and drink to the demise of Pompey.

Well, it's like they always say...if at first you don't succeed, at least you'll get more billable hours from the appeal.

I'm sooooo glad I checked in to see the transfer news...!!

Although it's only my opinion, I'm pretty sure the "mine is bigger than yours" argument is a waste of oxygen/keyboard pressing.

Regardless of statements that Toby made, I never felt like his move was anything more than careful stage management and saying the right thing to an audience desperate for acceptance from someone who has come from a "bigger club".

He was fantastic pre-injury lay off, and although he showed flashes of this on his return, to me he never seemed the same even though this just reduced him to very good.

Another club came calling and he saw his name in stars quicker with them than with us and his year long loan turned out exactly as he wanted.

I know people will always want to think the best of him, but maybe, just maybe he did a number on us.

He was with and now he is not, no point harping on or massaging egos.

Personally, I couldn't care less if Les ballsed up 10% of the time as long as the only people that deal with it are Katherina, Ralph and Ronald-it's their issue after all.

The bit about researching a player before they outlay an extortionate fee sounds like a bloody good idea to me, we all know bosses check Facebook and Twitter when we all apply for jobs. I'd rather £8.5 million carefully spent than £15 million wasted.

It's been barely 25 hours since a bloody talented footballer signed up with us, sit back and enjoy the ride children.
