Good to see we've signed someone, nice to have some experience to go alongside our own talent

    This is a good signing.

Mark Yeates is maybe a little bit of a journeyman.....but he's started at Spurs and wasn't good enough....so that's not unusual.

He did very well at Colchester...and got a chance at Championship football. Struggled at Middlebrough, but maybe that was just a manager indifference. At Sheffield United he was one of their better performers.....he's all round pretty decent......a good enough replacement for Cowie....though £300k for a 2 year contract isn't so great....he won't be on massive wages so I would've thought a 3/4 year deal would be better for us.

£150k a season plus wages is reasonably cheap for someone with experience at this level.

Sadly I think it's inevitable that he will leave on a free transfer after two years, either because he wants more money, or because he's not good enough. As long as he's not rubbish, I forgive him in advance.

We now have two players from relegated clubs. I hope we don't get any more or we will have a relegation team

I may well be wrong, but didn't we buy Wright and Smart from a club that had just been relegated. I do remember people saying that we showed no ambition going after players like those two.

Fair point NZ, although Mirfin will only start if we get an injury (in which case he'll be competing with Bennett), or if moving Mariappa is considered a better option than playing one of Doyley, Hodson and the new left back. Yates will probably be in our starting eleven on the opening day, but he'll only keep his place if he does enough to stay ahead of the likes of Whichelow.

Its great to see new signings. I wonder how Yates fits within SD's plan? Is he going to be Bucko's replacement or Cowies replacement?? If he is Bucko's replacement will Forsyth play at LB?? Also if this Prince guy joins will he be our central player alongside John Eustace??

So the team looks to be this atm then

    Loach

    Thomson Taylor Mapps Doyley

    Yates Jenkins Eustace Forsyth

    Deeney Sordell

Not too bad, now lets see a striker and genuine LB come in and i will be a very happy bunny!!!

Based on the players we currently have, am I the only person that thinks we are likely to go 4-5-1?

A good singing, it seems like we have Yeates and Forsyth as our first choice wingers, with Wichelow and Bryan as back-ups who will be needed throughout the season. All we need now is a left-back and two strikers with Bauben providing cover in midfield

That is good of Graham though & will give encouragement to other players to join as well.
