DO we supporters just now sit back and accept another failure at our club ? What is the future going to be like if we carry on under the stewardship of Nick Higgs and Co ?

At best a yo-yo club between L2 and The Conference I suspect. It's not good enough for me and I hope for you - PLEASE READ ON !

A group of fans (as big or as small as necessary) get together to form a BRFC Supporters Trust (like at Newport County now and Pompey a year ago) and start raising money from supporters like you and me and also HOPEFULLY the wealthier ones to pledge substantial money in order to buy out Higgs and Co.

For me, relegation into Conference was the straw that broke the footballing Camel's back and now the stadium disaster is the straw that broke the management of the club's back !!

I'm prepared to give a lot of my time to get something going ( I did so by forming and running The Wellie Group - so you know I put my effort where my mouth is). I have ears that will help publicise this in the media. I will also contribute some money (don't have much sadly - I will pledge 1000 - 2000 quid) but every hundreds/thousands of pounds COULD count.

So Gasheads, let's get into action, let's save our club and claim it back and RUN IT PROPERLY !! Spread the word if you think it could possibly work. Let's consider getting people together to discuss how it could all be possible.

We continue to support the team, but in the meantime we can try to help make a better future for our club.

    So

1.) Do you support exploring this project ?
2.) Would you pledge money if it was 100 % organised and transparent ?
3.) Would you give up some of your time to attend meetings / research ideas/ collate information etc ?

There's NOTHING to fear, probably hardly anything to lose and at least you'll know YOU HAVE DONE YOUR BIT to help potentially change our club for the better

P.S. Those who are anti this idea - PLEASE don't have a go at me I DON'T CARE !

Mark Czekalski a Gashead for 40 plus years ( my Dad a Gashead, brothers Gasheads, Nephews Gasheads and my little son A Gashead !!

I hope I'm not being rude as I really like BR fans their spirit is like ours, but do you have enough fans to finance it?

Pompey did it with £1000 fan payments and it's really hard, if there is a famous Rovers fan with deep pockets it could work.

Mark - any idea what sort of total money figure would be enough to buy them out and then have enough to run the club?

I'm not a Rovers fan, but a serious question :emoticon-0148-yes:

I think the club's in a better place than it's been for a long time. Sure, this ground business is still raw but I blame Sainsburys rather than the Board.

On the pitch, I'm sure we'll do well this season and moving forward. A lot of things were wrong before we went down, but there's a much better spirit around the club now and it' been an opportunity to get things right off the pitch too.

I don't think the fans will put their hands in their pocket or this sort of arrangement now. And I don't think they need to...

Sadly I cant agree with you Gastronomic re the above, who other than the Board failed to implement a watertight deal ? If the incompotent jesters that The Board engaged to draw up worthless contracts are at fault lets be clear The Board issued them their instructions and as such are accountable, 100%.

Sainsburys v Rovers, well we now all know that contary to what we as Supporters were assured by certain Board Members "the contract was as worthless as the paper it was never written on" Contract what contract ?

Manager and player wise yes we are or rather should be in a good position at present but how many abject failures have we seen come and go on and off the field over the past 5 years, and at what cost when it comes to severing contracts etc.

Again the powers that be at Rovers seem consistent in wasting money that given the unusual method of recent financing they cant afford. Who in their right mind would do such a thing, if conventional lenders wont lend there is bloody good reason !

Its great that the Board take such a flippant view of finance when it comes to the Club that they would never take in business, no matter what they might say in public.

Waste, waste and more waste as would the idea of an appeal, sadly Nick Higgs should own up and see reality and admit (no matter what he thinks the Supporters want to hear) that now there is no further mileage in wasting more money that the Club have'nt and will never get.[/QUOTE]

    (Did my best here BSG...hope it's ok....p49)

Sorry again guys but incorrectly the whole of the previous psoting has been quoted as by Gastronomic, in my frustration at the situation I have somehow managed to psot in its entirety my response to Gastro's quote that I wanted to include. Sorry about this mate and if the mods could break my paosting down as meant that would be easier for all to understand.
F5ck me I'm as good at this posting lark as the Board is with legal issues !!! At least I admit to my mistakes and crap spelling.

    Here's something interesting about Panathinaikos

    Panathenaic Alliance

Panathinaikos' downfall continued as a result of the serious riots in the Panathinaikos-Olympiacos derby of 18 March 2012. The entire board quit and Panathinaikos remained headless for about 2 months.[25] The owner of Skai TV, Giannis Alafouzos, however devised a plan to take Vardinogiannis' shares (54.7%) and make them available to fans around Greece so that everyone could contribute a desired amount, so that Panathinaikos could overcome the crisis.[26] His plan seemed to be working as a new 20-member board was elected with Dimitris Gontikas at the president's chair again,[27] however it was yet to be seen how the fans would respond to Panathinaikos' call for help.
On 2 July 2012, the Panathenaic Alliance finally opened to the public so that everyone could be a member and contribute a desired amount in return for privileges. After a few weeks of operation, 8.606 members had signed up, some of which were current or former Panathinaikos players (Jean-Alain Boumsong, Ninis, Gilberto Silva, Cisse and others).
18 July 2012 marked a historical day in Panathinaikos history, as Giannis Vardinogiannis gave his shares - 54.7% of Panathinaikos F.C. - to the Panathinaikos Alliance, thereby allowing Panathinaikos to have a fresh start with their own fans at the steering wheel, who through elections (amongst the members of the Alliance) they compose the Board of Directors and elect the Club's President. First president was elected Giannis Alafouzos.
The first season with the Panathinaikos Alliance at the helm was nothing short of abysmal for the club. While still enduring financial troubles, Panathinaikos finished 6th in the championship and failed to qualify for the European competitions for the first time in 16 years.
For the 2013-14 season the membership had risen up to 9.305 members. Starting the 2013-2014 season both fans and journalists were very skeptical of Panathinaikos' chances of a successful season and a lot of people expected the team to get relegated. In May 2013 Yannis Anastasiou was appointed manager. Anastasiou planned a team based on players from the Panathinaikos Youth Academies joined by experienced foreign players looking to revive their careers. Despite the early skepticism Panathinaikos' fans supported the team through the rough start and the season turned out to be a massive success considering the dire financial situation of the club and the young and inexperienced squad. Panathinaikos finished 4th in the regular season and 2nd after the playoffs (meaning they qualified for the Champions League), with Marcus Berg first scorer of the team. Panathinaikos also won the Greek Cup after a 4-1 win over PAOK.

Sainsburys are involved in lots of these sorts of cases. So they have plenty of experience and loads of resources to throw at these sorts of issues too. So it's always going to be tough taking on these corporate giants. If we hadn't got promoted the situation really would have been dire. But I think the board have learnt valuable lessons.

Sorry Mark I can't agree with several of your points. The club is on the up, and what's more, we have DC.

thanks to everyone who has responded with some sensible comments. We should wait for others who haven't read it to chip in. I'm under no illusions what this is all about. I would ask anyone who is interested or think they are in looking into this to pm me over the next few days. I think initially the aim would be to get together with the aim of finding out what would be required to push forward and establish a steering group.

    Cheers,

    Mark
