seems this deal may not be dead and once again the stumbling block isn't the player but ****ing agents <grr>
    here's the article

Alan Pardew has issued an ultimatum to target Mevlüt Erdinç.
United have became embroiled in a bonus row with his agent Pierre Frelot, who told The Journal on Friday that the striker will be staying at Paris Saint-Germain.

Alan Pardew: “It’s quite easy for me to pull out. If the boy wants to stay at his club and be third choice and doesn’t want to come to Newcastle then I don’t want him – because Newcastle, for me, are a bigger club.

“I’m not being disrespectful and I know that Paris Saint-Germain are in the Champions League but with our stadium, our support and the squad we’ve got, we’re the bigger club.

“We have to be careful. Some of the things being quoted are not from him and we’ve got to cut through it. It’s difficult to criticise the player because sometimes it’s the agent or someone else not getting what he wants.

“But we won’t bring him to the club if he doesn’t want to be here. We’re not certainly going to force his hand.

“All transfers are always alive until such time as someone buries them. We’re not burying this one.

"We’re still confident on bringing a striker in.

“It makes me laugh when people say time is running out – the deadline isn’t until the end of August.

“It’s obvious we’re looking to get a striker in, we’re not just paying lip service to it. We have made bids, that is in the public domain.

“But we have to make sure it’s the right player, that is the most important thing.”

We are a bigger club than PSG, however haven't they just been takenover by a rich multi billionaire or something.

A Qatarian consortium bought them recently but are not pledging insane sums of money but they will have a larger than usual transfer kitty.

As usual this bigger than thou stuff is just opinions. What I would say is true is that playing in the PL appeals to players a hell of lot more than Ligue 1. The money on offer and strength of the league dictate this. Who knows on this Erdinc guy. I just think he would have been here by now if he wanted to come. He knows he is gonna be 3rd or 4th choice so you'd have thought he would be keen.

don't trust the agents more than the player reading what pardew said it looks like (as per usual) that the agents are stirring the **** whether it's for a move or a pay rise (now they have mega rich owners) who knows an example of this seems to be naylor from Swansea it's obv. now he didn't want to leave them mmmm wonder how we found out about the 1m release clause then the next thing we know he's about to sign a new contract for the swans job well done by the agents <ok>
it's part and parcel of the game i know but i doubt i'll ever be comfortable with agents they're nothing but trouble imo

We might be in England but we wont be in France. As for across Europe who knows what the general opinion is.

As mentioned before though The Premiership is a more appealing league to play in than most.

I've taken a lot of time and effort to accurately depict the difference in size between Newcastle and PSG:

Never heard of Cabaye or Marveaux, but your signature still says they're better than anything we have...?

aye think some are reading into the title a bit much my fault as i just copied the article when i was more interested in the fact it looks like it's his agents being feckers rather than him so maybe the deal isn't dead? would change the title but don't know how/can't
