****ing hopeless us like LOL Bridcock rb, rodwell lb, Defoe is wasted on the wing and I could go on and on Back to feeding baby I go LOL
Well that second half team was ****e. Doesn't matter though, it's minutes under the belt that matters. Missed some vital players to visa delays that's really limiting what Dick can do tactically. I though Mathews was excellent. Giacc, Rodwell, and Catts all looking bright in the first half. Those who played 90 were dead on their feet. Watmore looked Bright and as per, Connor's 2nd touch is having to control his first touch. First half much better than second. I said it would be a very tough game.
Head coach delivers verdict after Sacramento test. Dick Advocaat was focused on his side's continuing quest to build their fitness after the defeat to Sacramento Republic. A lone second-half goal saw the American side to victory at Bonney Field despite Steven Fletcher hitting the bar with a header in the first half. The friendly was Sunderland's second pre-season run-out following the win at Darlington and Advocaat says conditioning is the main focus at the moment. "Obviously if you lose it’s not good, but for me it’s more about getting in the right shape for the opening game of the Barclays Premier League season against Leicester," he said. "You could tell that Sacramento are in the middle of their season and we are not yet at the same place and we also had to change the team at the break. "A number of the international players have only been back a few days, but we still have another two games here. "We need to get into better shape and we will get there. The result is never as important in pre-season. "The players are training hard and that’s more important than the way we play at the minute."
Got up a bit after 5 a.m., had something to eat and switched on. From what I saw, I reckon they let down Sunderland, let down England, and let down the Premier League. Switched off around 5.40 a.m. I take Advocaat's point that conditioning is more important than the result, but for me, that sort of conditioning should be gained behind closed doors. Tonight, we ripped off the Sacramento public, and disgraced ourselves I was ashamed of them.
Well, the performance was pretty much what we expected from an out-of-condition team jet-lagged and playing in the California summer. Some of them looked knackered. I wouldn't argue with any of that. But I don't think we should be seen in public like this, and especially not in a foreign country where people turn up expecting to see something a bit above what they see every week. That's what disappointed me - it was a rip-off.
Enjoy your last day in Greece Vince. Remember to switch the lights off behind you and put the "Closed for Business" sign up when you leave.
