Didn't know where to post this, but it may require some debate. This is the first time since he's been doing the Liverpool/Everton job that the paper hasn't sent him on Liverpool's pre-season tour. Apparently hardly any on the nationals have. What does this say about our club? #ontopic
I think this is a good thing. The tours are about building the clubs profile in the areas they visit so the press from this country going along makes no difference. However, it does stop petty coverage and exposure over here if they don't go.
Does it not say we're not of the right status to warrant the expense? He's covering the open golf instead. He's played golf once in his ****ing life
Doesn't it suggest that he's not as close to the club as he thinks he is, which explains all the incorrect info he's given you over the past few years...?
Its a good point my views is: 1. the tours thus far has looked weak. There was faff all in the stadium last night. it was less than half full when last time we went there we sold out. 2. There was no papers at all on the team plane over according to jame pearce who did go he went seperately 3. The tour is headed to brisbane next. the other teams are not headed there. So i would agree with RHC that for many reasons there is no pull to follow LFC here. rodgers is a dead man walking. most of the transfers are done, not many of signings people would want to talk to have traveled. fimino and/or whomever is signed next won't be there. all in all i would say this tour should be a wake up call to lfc. you've failed to deliver and build upon the brief success you had, you've gone back to the far east too soon and nobody cares. In short wake up.
Nail on head. We keep living off past achievements, being too sentimental to sh*T players who are loyal, and thinking overpriced British players are the dogs b*llocks. Our only star in the team is Coutinho, and he's not there. But once we buy Benteke, we'll have another one.
Seriously, why do people give a **** about us being in the papers and national news? Who gives a ****? The tour isn't about getting on the back pages (or front in some cases) of this countries papers, its not about getting TV coverage or website pages either. The tour is about building the clubs reputation in the countries being visited and maximising the potential income from shirt sales etc. IMO, journalists from this country not going is a good thing, the players can relax a little more knowing their every move isn't being monitored by some knobhead that's going to report any wrong doings.
Could it be that the papers/news-outlets have realised people are far more interested in transfer talk than in pre season tours to the back of beyond.
I totally ignore pre season tours. If you remember, Moyes kicked ass in Uniteds pre season tour the year he was appointed, look how that ended up. And in 2010, Chelsea didn't win a single game on our Pre season tour with Ancelotti. Drew 2 lost 2 if I recall..... We then won the League and FA Cup double that season....
I am talking the season before that mate, I meant 09-10. Leave me alone, I havent had enough caffeine yet. Some scivvy from my team went to make me tea and cut his hand open on **** knows what. Comes back with a mug of tea drenched in claret, thinking I will drink it. I dont think so, ****tard.
Well my point was that Moyes was good in pre season but **** during the season, but, as you pointed out, I got it wrong......
Difficult to know that you were referring to the 09-10 season when you posted that Chelsea had a poor pre-season in 2010.
