It has been revealed that Luke Murphy has taken a considerable pay cut when agreeing a new four-year contract ... he stated his love for the club and his desire to take Leeds back to the Prem as the reasons for doing so.

In today's climate of money grabbing footballers, and boy we've had our share of wage thieves, it is refreshing to see that we have a player who WANTS to be at our club regardless of the cost.

Murphy found form towards the end of the season, having been one of those players who suffered from the thick managers we had, and he does have the quality to serve us well. I have always liked him, and when he is confident and playing in a positive team he is a fine player.

Personally, I hope he has an outstanding season because he is a good influence on our young 'uns, and we need more of this type of character around our kids. Thank you Luke for pinning your colours to the White mast, here's wishing you well for the next four years. MOT!!!

I'm happy that he has taken a pay cut to be at leeds and has desire to be here. However, where will he fit in especially if we play a 442. Even if we play a 451 with 3 centre mids, I think both Cook and Mowatt are better than him personally. Adeyemi has signed and I doubt he's signed to sit on the bench, then we have the likes of Bianchi and Sloth (people are expecting big things from him this season). You've also got the likes of Phillips pushing for a place at least on the bench.

If he is injured for the start of the season (which is what has been reported) and we start well he may really struggle to get into the team this season.

With you totally Billy and, despite the criticism he sometimes gets, I honestly think there is a really good player there just waiting to flourish fully. He isn't a youngster but since he has been with us it has been turmoil all the way and, with the stick he sometimes gets from fans, I for one take my hat off to him and really hope he shows a few people that he is a proper player.

Eire come on man, Shaks wouldn't be able to remember what the hell was discussed, and would probably have you paying the club weekly.

Even if he took a pay cut to £6k per week its still £350k which aint bad is it

Imagine taking a deal like that in our ordinary jobbies. Boss calls you in, youve a year left to work here but guess what, if you take a pay cut well give you three extra years. Youve got to admire whoever negotiated that, First time Ive come across it. Wonder was it Pearson or Cellino

Not a big fan of Murphy, played on adrenalin and the will to impress when Redders brought him back, but then he came back to fold, a fold that was constantly being lawnmowed by opposition.

I just got a funny feeling there's method in madness with his 4 year deal and pay cut.

I'm not saying he's telling big porkies about loving Leeds, McContract kept saying same thing, but I haven't heard of any clubs knocking door down to want him. I suspect the pay cut might have something to do with not wanting to move to lower leagues........just my opinion, don't hang me.

I think Murphy'll have big problems getting back in team after his injury, by that time Rosler may well have his best 11.
