They may have a higher wage bill but they've spent considerably less in terms of transfer fees over the past decade. We offered Sanchez same wages, if not more.
We did offer Sanchez more, if you believe what you read, he just didn't fancy us. He's one player I would have loved, been superb on and off the pitch
they have spent well at times and badly at times. Wenger has panic bought a couple times and its not works and for the past two seasons IMO they have approached it right and i think are right up there... even with giroud i think he is effective enough for them to push for a title. they won't be right in there at the death but will be close. For me cheslea have not done enough yet. begovic and falcao are not going to improve them at all. nathan is for the future which is always good. Utd have certainly strengthend but need that CB and ST now. there are two names that are clear links there. if they do that i think they will be the challenger. City on the other hand have a lot of clearing out but only sterling in. I'm not so far impressed. they can go on a good run but aguero injuries are a worry and yaya looked toast last year. he might come back after a rest but still..... not looking as good as they did so far. Spurs landed trippier who'd ok but a reserve and alderwierld so far.. again have they done enough? we will see. I think they will run close to 5th again Us... we've replaced players o nthe way out and built for the future but have not yet resolved the huge gaping hole that was in our team.. again we've not done enough.. the 3 for the first team improve us but the gap remains up front.
MITO regarding Chelsea - I think the question is do they really need to improve? Love him or hate him Jose is the best manager in the PL - albeit they play boring football, he gets the job done. The midfield partnership of Matic and Cesc is perfect. Hazard, Willian and Costa is formidable. Their defence is solid, great full backs and I expect Zouma to be a massive player next season. Best keeper in the PL too. Realistically if they were to improve their starting 11 they would have to buy players in the top bracket - we're talking Messi, Suarez, Ronaldo etc. and they won't be moving anywhere. All they need is to get rid of some players and perhaps get a couple of bench warmers in. Another striker wouldn't hurt tbh. But even without that they'll still win the league imo.
my view would be all teams need to improve constantly. Cheslea failed in europe after all so yes they have to improve. I like the CM partnership too, but theres not much cover there. Same for the 3 behind costa, not a lot of cover. and oscar could be improved on. The defence is sort of solid but cahill is a weak link. I think yes they will be the winners or a very close second but if they want to complete in CL they need a couple more players.
Chelsea in their current state are still the best team. Arsenal have finally added a good keeper to their team, and they will probs be starting with Coq as DM who made a big difference. City are City, and will spend their way out of trouble. United have done the most impressive business so far. Whilst I think we're improving, we need 2, maybe 3 more quality signings to close the gap this window - notably a front line striker and/or attacker.
I think you have to say ok... chelsea and arsenal as they stand yes.. city have work to do. they have to do it first. .. utd still need that forward.
Victor Valdes was simply "not selected" by manager Louis van Gaal for Manchester United's US tour. No matter which way you look at it, the decision seems to effectively end the Spaniard's short spell at Old Trafford. Does that mean Van Gaal has something else up his sleeve? Even without the uncertainty over David De Gea, United need a keeper. And would someone as astute at the Dutchman have taken a decision as significant as the one to leave Valdes at home without being reasonably sure what he was going to do about it? ............. whats going on here.... are utd about to buy a keeper? will de gea go or not?
Don't know about this one. Can be a great player who can destroy a defence, but does he fit our style. May be he will be the plan B when the fancy stuff does not open up the opposition, we can resort to the battering ram. He will need to up his effort though if he expects to get games, he does tend to stroll around at times like Balotelli.
I'm sure United will get a forward in but they already have players who can score goals i.e. Depay and Rooney. The important thing for them was to strengthen the defence/midfield which any manager worth his salt would do - from being a laughing stock last year, their midfield is now their strength. City will be interesting to see but even in their current state, they're still massively ahead of us. If we sign 2-3 good players, then I'll go into the new season with a lot of confidence.
yes but over a fully season with CL they need anothe rtop player. this is not mickey mouse like us. this is the top level and you need the players. they have the midfield... they need the CB as well
Would be an awful choice - arguably the worst choice ever. If people thought signing Mario made no sense, then signing Benteke will take the biscuit. We're Liverpool FC, we should be going for much better.
