Morning, team. Nothing for me today but the big racing news has to be the transfer of Al Ferof from the barn of Mr Nicholls to that of Danny Skelton. Apparently, though the former was the driving force behind the move suggesting to the owner that Al Ferof would benefit enormously from a change of scenery. Will old boy Danny be able to steer the horse back to the ‘top table’??? Although it’s worth remembering that Al Ferof has never actually won a Grade 1 outside of novice company.

Morning all, my first comment in the forum but have been a keen follower for a while. I see Storm The Stars is running this eve in Paris. He must have an outstanding chance given he has finished behind the best 3yos this year. My only doubt is that he's had a lot of runs already this season and may not be as fresh as the unexposed types in the race. But 3/1 is surely too big given his form!

Welcome Al Kazeem and good luck with Storm The Stars this evening.

I'm looking forward to the Novice Chase at 9.00 tonight in Killarney and I think Bridgets Pet at 7/2 is the one to be siding with. He looked in good heart the last day out where he cruised to an 18 length victory over a well fancied Haddington Road up at Downpatrick. Rated 137 at his peak over hurdles, he also made an appearance at Cheltenham but was pulled up there that day in a race Salubrious won. He was hit and miss subsequently until his most recent victory and any reproduction of that win should suffice tonight. John Fitzpatrick rides again and takes a useful 7lb of to lighten the load. Barry O'Connell likes to target this festival for a few wins and hopefully Bridgets Pet can oblige him in that.

Christ, the first four races at Bath are all over 5f something: will be more like Happy Valley! Must be an economy drive to save petrol moving the stalls.

Reminds me of that Bernard Manning joke:

Irish family sat watching the telly, the dad says to the mum "Bridget, Bridget!! Shut your legs. The 'K' - 'I' - 'D' - 'S' can see your ****" <laugh>

He has the best form going into this but he has also shown himself to be very one-paced. Yes he has been 2nd and 3rd in two Derbys but the reality is that he has been hammered in both of them and I'd be very surprised if the French (or Aiden O'Brien) did not have something that could do him for speed down the straight.

Not one for short prices usually but quite sweet on the chances of Ampere.

Maureen Haggas said last night that it was pointless going a slow pace so they will either make the running on their horse at a even/strong pace or the blinkered Archaengel Raphael may go from the front for Aiden O'Brien. Either way, there should be some decent pace and I think that Ampere looks to have the gears to pull this one off.

<laugh> found this one of his too...

Man says to his wife: 'pack your bags, I've won the pools.'
She says: ' What should I pack? Something light, something warm? Where are we going?'
He says: 'We're going nowhere. Just pack your bags and **** off.'

Why isn't he just going straight to the Leger?

Trainer reckons he loves racing and came out of Curragh very well. Think something along the lines of it being easier to get him fit by racing than at home where he is quite laid back.

Agh, well good for them. I hope he wins but doubt he will.

Two at Bath i think are both overpriced so will have a little dig on.

2pm Showmethewayavrilo 7/2 - plenty of strong form lines directly or indirectly coming from its races. 7/2 is a fair price to take the fav on.
3.10 Rathaath 8/1 - Bad draw at Chester killed its chance so i'm putting a line through it. Debut race at Kempton has worked out well and it was a strong heat for the track. It makes this mark fair. Dropped a couple of pounds already because of the handicap debut flop at Chester. I just think it's the wrong price. If the Chester race hadn't been run and he was making a handicap debut today he'd be a 4/1 shot.

From what I read old boy Haggas seems quite keen to distance himself from today’s Paris race. Says the decision to run was the owner’s idea. Still if Storm The Stars obliges it wouldn’t be the first time this year that the owner had the right idea re future race plans.

The Derbys have shown us that Storm The Stars is not a Group 1 horse so its difficult to back him to win one, it would have to be a poor renewal.

Balios was flattered a bit to beat Mr Singh as he did last time, Doyle kicked too soon on Mr Singh and Balios picked up the pieces coming from last with Spencer. He would have to step up on that to win an average Group 1.

Fabre's favourite by default I think, not many of the French races have shown up on Youtube this season so can only judge him on the one posted on here. With Fabre's ammunition, record in the race and this ones profile you would guess he is probably the one to beat but I dont know enough to want any of the 5/2.

Erupt 7/1 is the one I like, formwise he is behind but I like the pedigree and the profile. The last Niarchos winner of this was Bago so had a bet at 33s for the Arc on the off chance.

    15:10 Bath - Union Rose e/w

(The top weight might benefit from the probable mad dash up front, so a bit e/w at 9/1).

Well, if one's gonna lose best be last <doh>. But really Mr.Drowne, you weren't supposed to go straight to the front. Back to the drawing board! <laugh>
