But Lucaaas Broughton was nowhere near club when rafa was sacked.

I still think it was g&h and they didn't seem willing to sell.

Raheem terling Death Threats Investigated by Police as Liverpool Transfer Looms

An investigation has been launched by Merseyside Police after England international winger Raheem Sterling was the target of abuse on social media.
The 20-year-old, who is poised to join Manchester City from Liverpool in a £49 million deal, will become the most expensive English player ever when the transfer goes through, per Sky Sports. But a few Twitter users have reacted toxically to the potential deal, even aiming abuse at Sterling’s three-year old daughter.
As noted by Joe Strange of the Daily Mail, Merseyside Police have issued a statement in response to the offensive language sent Sterling’s way:
The language used in these tweets is abhorrent.
We are taking the incident extremely seriously and an investigation by detectives in Liverpool CID is on-going.
People who use the Internet to target others and who commit criminal offences such as harassment or hate crime in doing so are not beyond the law and can expect to be brought to justice.
    (Warning: offensive language below)
As Strange notes, one user sent a tweet to Sterling stating he would “hunt your daughter down and lock her up.” A different account claimed that the person “literally hope he f--king dies,” and another said he would like to see the 20-year-old in a City jersey "soaked in his own blood.” The youngster was also targeted with racial abuse by various accounts.

While Sterling’s conduct throughout this transfer saga has left much to be desired, there is no justification for any supporter to plunge to these depths. Ultimately, the England man has moved from one club to another in a decision he feels will enrich his career.
Sterling will not receive a unanimous ovation when he does return to Anfield, nor will he be fondly remembered by those of a red persuasion. But the overwhelming majority of supporters across the globe will be quick to condemn the actions of these foolish fans, who are clearly taking football far too seriously.

Wait for you know who to easily top the fee City paid for Raheem for Harry Kane, probably with hours to spare in the transfer window. As for Sterling the jury is very much out.

I hope the cops find each one.

You never know who is doing it. These trolls are pure filth.

Not to deflect as I'm sure some moron with an lfc shirt sent some but you can bet some scumbag who doesn't give a damn about football is behind some of these too.

Wasn't there a case of some woman up in Newcastle or somewhere who was on some quest that got done for this sort of trolling having 50 accounts?

It's really a bit sad and you'd have to wonder if a nominal fee to use some of these would not take the edge off them.

In any event I hope at least some are thick enough to have used own ip and get done via the legislation we have for it.

That could happen though I think they'll have to get shut of 2/3 forwards to make it happen.

I was trying to think if city need 5/6 English they still have a but of work to do.

Broughton was bought in April 2010, Rafa wasn't sacked iuntil June or July. IIRC Broughton was appointed by RBS to run the club to try and sell it and get the banks money back, H&G had no power at the club by that time.

“I was preparing for the next season but after the meeting with Mr. Broughton and Mr. Purslow I realised that I had to accept the offer they made” This was Rafa's quote after being sacked, it was clear to see who was running the club at this time, and it wasn't H&G.

I'm pretty certain Purslow had a big role to play in sacking Rafa. Despite his great work on the commercial side, he thought he knew everything about football and made big footballing decisions.

Ayre was a senior official at Liverpool and being a local lad, his opinion was heard. Whether that's true or not, but I've heard similar things from a number of different people. <ok>

  15. Rafa was a dead man walking, H&G just needed an excuse to get shot. I don't agree that Rafa was booted to help sell the club, H&G didn't want to sell.

Not if the payment is made separate from the sterling deal, kind of like when you buy a house and you want to pay less stamp duty you pay for fixtures and fittings <party>

    #1856
  17. So what could be the "fixture and fittings" in the Sterling deal...?

It's taken a while to sort out, but Sterling finally got a free mid-season holiday to the Caribbean included in his City contract.
