@OptaJoe: 52% - Only 10 managers in PL history have a higher win percentage than Claudio Ranieri. Tinkerman.
Jeez. Dunno what to make of this, neither excited nor nervous. Hopefully his time in Inter Milan means we'll get Cambi signed up.
I just hope he continues Nigel's work and not destroys it like Sousa and Sven did Ranieri has managed Robert Huth and Esteban Cambiasso in the past
Can´t say I´m jumping for joy, but on the other hand I ain´t saying WTF ? either. Oh well atleast this saga is over... for now. I hope he does well because if he doesn´t & gets sacked we´ll be back on here asking "WHO ****ING NEXT ?" again & having yet another managerial merry go round. Welcome, but we must finish well away from the bottom 3 CR, that´s my tip for you. Who will be his 1st signing ?
Signing Cambiasso could be even more important now. Someone who knows the players and will help Ranieri. I think Shakey and Walsh will be off now and Ranieri will bring his own men in. I just hope he brings in someone who knows the Premier League in with him because he has been out of it for a very long time
My reaction also. I don't think he's the man who will take us to the "next level", but I don't think he'll take us down either. Could bring in some tasty overseas players. Players like Morgan, Moore, Drinkwater and Nugent will probably be nervous.
I'm happy with this. Sure, I would have preferred O'Neill or Klopp, but I think Ranieri is probably the best we could attract, and may be a useful tool for re-signing Cambiasso, who seems to have been waiting for the manager's appointment. I hope Ranieri will help his decision. Personally, I'm a bit young to remember his time at Chelsea but on paper he looks very impressive. I remember his Monaco side outclassing us a few years back...
I'm not sure how well he'll do at Leicester but he always comes across as a smashing bloke and I'm sure there'll be lots of us non-Leicester fans who wish him well. I don't think he's a Sven-alike.
I think this is the thing that a few of us need to be reminded of. It would be great to get a Klopp or Hiddink, but we need to remember our place in the football league ladder. Hes managed at the top level of football for many years and will certainly make some top players think twice before rejecting a move here. It shows the ambition of the owners to appoint someone with such vast experience. Now to get Cambiasso on board and i think we'll be in pretty good shape. Would like to see Shakey and Walsh stay too, does he have a regular backroom team?
Best get some players signed then, he'll need a squad of 40 over the season in order rotate players enough times!
