With your new signings now in place and Shneiderlin on the way what is your best team and formation, what areas still need sorting?

So how does the midfield line up now? Carrick and Morgan fighting for a place or do they both play?

    It certainly gives you options.

Off the top of my head given the players we have I would go 4-2-3-1

De Gea in goal, a back four of Shaw, Smalling, Jones & Darmian. Schweingsteiger and Schneiderlin as a CM two in front of those, Depay, Herrera and Mata in front of those (left to right), Rooney as striker.

This leaves Young and Carrick undeservedly left out. Di Maria has no place for now, can't see Fellaini getting back in and Blind has to fight for LB with Shaw. Rojo to contend at centre half.

Do we really need anyone else? A back up striker, that's about it. Cracking squad we now have, stacked up full of options.

Unfortunately I agree, a good backup striker and you're really looking good. Some have questioned the Sweinsteiger transfer but he's a winner and a leader, getting on yes but you have plenty of others to do the donkey work.

He's a great player. One of the preeminent CM's of the last five years and still at the top of his game. Being 30 isn't an issue, the bloke is superb.

I agree, it's a very good signing. He's had some injury problems lately and has struggled to get back into the Bayern team this was probably the right move at the right time for him. It's a pity he's signed for you lot so I can't enjoy watching him play. <laugh>

As some of the old 606 lot will testify, I've been begging for us to sign him for about seven years!!!

(I think only Sweats remains mind)

    Ddg
    Darmian smalling rojo shaw
    Schweinsteiger(dm)
    (am)Herrera Schneiderlin(b2b)
    Di Maria Rooney Depay
A CB or two as well as a back up striker and we are sorted short and long term. When you lool at who is missing it puts just how good our squad now is (on paper)

    Mata
    Young
    Carrick
    Jones
    Rafael (for now)
    Valdes
    Blind
    Fellaini
    Januzaj
    Evans (not for much longer)

I'd put Morgan DM and Bastian ahead of him.

Years ago yes but now having a 31 year old play b2b is suicide. Schneiderlin is great as an 8 or 6 as is Schweinsteiger.

Carricks also going to get plenty of games at dm.

I think a lot of people think that Carrick will be dropped but I don't think so, you could (depending on the game) play Carrick, Schneiderlin and Sweinsteiger.

You don't have to rely on him and his age doesn't matter if he's performing, what I mean is that just because you've bought thes2 it doesn't mean Carick is done. I could be wrong though.

Good squad with plenty of options. That defence still looks a little suspect thought despite all the money spent in the last couple of years and surely another striker needed if Hernandez doesn't stay. .

What's funny in all of the half dozen threads about recent events and talking about player options, is that Valencia hasnt been mentioned once. Poor forgotten bastrd <laugh>

His first 2 seasons he was such a great winger. Absolute quality and was a traditional type following the mercurial style of Ronaldo. BUT Valencia was broken by the 2011 CL final. Then the knee injury and he's NEVER been the same player since.
