I'd just remembered Kevin Kyle too, unfortunately, he was one of those players where it was absolutely baffling how he'd managed to get himself into a position where he was being paid money to play football. We've had a few of them mind. You could've selected literally any random person from the crowd and they would've had better pace and ball control.
Still a big lad then. We use cranes down here. I'm sure he got into the Scottisn national team as well. He could've had a decent career north of the border. Wonder what went wrong.
Was so disappointed wit this lad. So long watching "honest pros" and here was a lad who dribbled from the half way line all the way to goal in his first or second game at Roker then didn't really do much else and disappeared. Was he about the same time as the lad we signed out of prison with the pineapple hair? He had an unpredictable quality that was somehow endearing as well. Anyone remember his name?
Think he did alright in the end so fair play to him. Comically unfit with us though. Just looked at Wiki and he got a few games for Jamaica. Wouldn't happen nowadays sadly. McLean the closest in recent times I guess
You need to be at least 45 to remember this guy. Rod Belford, I think we signed him from Ipswich in 1974 and at Second Division level he made all of the forwards in the thread above look world class in the Permier League! Any body else remember him and was he as bad as I recall?
Washy...he was called Rod Belfitt I am old enough to remember him, he came with a huge reputation for being consistent..never happened for him at Roker Park
Goalkeeper...Sandy McLaughlin excuse spelling, scottish keeper about 5 foot 8. Far too small, played one New Years day against WBA and let in five he was pissed from his hogmanay celebrations. That was one of many blunders from him, played in the seventies.
