Well yes, and by being on the older side he's vulnerable to both Schweins taking his place. I can't see all three playing in the same side.

Agree that Mata is also vulnerable, which is a shame. Same applies to Young.

Can see Di Maria, Herrera and Depay as a three behind the striker. Not too shabby whoever he picks (as long as it isn't Fellaini).

Maybe he will now use Carrick at centre half now that Schneiderlin is in?

    Wouldn't put it past him.

I can't see Carrick or Shweinsteiger being available for the majority of matches, they'll probably each miss a fair portion of matches... Either planned rest or due to injuries. So if Schneiderlin settles in quickly I predict he'll make the most starts of the three.

I think we'll play 2 out of the 3 of them in most matches, so if all 3 are fit then Schneiderlin may miss out but overall I think he'll be the mainstay and the other two will rotate depending on their fitness. And from next season I hope Schneiderlin steps up to be the regular starter and Carrick can become the backup option due to his age...

    My preferred midfield:

    ---------------------------------Schneiderlin---------------------------------
    ----------------------Herrera-----------------Shweinsteiger--------------
    ---Mata------------------------------------------------------------Depay---

With Carrick and Fellaini as backup. When last did we have a midfield with so many players who can actually pass the ball? Hopefully our wide men and striker make some good runs into the box as these guys will be able to pick them out.

    Agree with this.
Your midfielder is looking stronger than it has in the last 5 years.

I think you are a CB away from challenging, (and possibly a GK if Duh-Geeya decides to fark off to Artifical Madrid).

They also need a striker imo, Rooney will be the main man but they need someone as backup and to play with him when needed.

At the moment yes, he's decent but not enough. If Rooney was injured they'd struggle up top.

They could stick Depay in the middle and put Young or Di Maria on the wings.

This is true, we've also got Wilson. That's it though.

Hernandez doesn't cut it and the reason he left in the first place was he wanted to be in the team. We should have kept RVP or Falcao, but then the reason RVP left was because he was told he wasn't first choice striker. Falcao seems happy enough to do that though, as is proven by going to Chelsea, so we should have just kept him.

What is required is a very good striker who knows he's not first choice. Not easy to lay your hands on.

Aye, Someone in the Solskjaer/Tore Andre Flo/Gudjohnson mould.
Good strikers, who won't insist on playing every second.

My thinking too but with Di Maria injured he should have an opportunity to convince lvg.

Herrera is first choice without question though, alongside Schweinsteiger and Schneiderlin... What a midfield

    The perfect 433 midfield.

A striker is a must. Hernandez will leave and Wilsons not there yet. Rooney showed last season that he cant be relied on to score all the time.

I think he can but can he be relied upon to stay fit? That's the problem for me, as a striker (if played as one) he will score you 30 goals a season but he does pick up niggles.

Muller would be great but he clouds the issue in as much as he would naturally expect to play. Pedro is a great player who is available apparently but is similar to Depay as he's a wide player who can play up front. I'd have said go for Benteke until I saw his lack of performance in the FA cup final, imagine him in the CL if he can't handle a domestic trophy final? No chance.

    Which brings me to.................................................

Harry Kane. Would probably cost way too much but an ideal second string striker who can learn the trade as he rises to the top. Can be taken in and out of the first team when required or needs a break. Perfect.

Have a sneaky feeling Kane will be the one we go for. Makes to much sense and hes at an age where he wont expect to start every game at a top club.

Plus Spurs would want ****ing Silly money for Kane right now anyway.
Combined with the bullshit "English player premium" you wouldn't get him for less than £40m.
On the other hand, he did more in one season than Sterling has done in 3, so if Raheem is worth £50m.........

Yeah, he is perfect really. I very much doubt that he himself is a billy big bollocks so would accept he's not going to be first choice yet.

Plus, he's then got the time to bed in and develop. The downside will be the press. If he doesn't score in the next international!

Just my opinion, but I don't think any club should be touching Kane with a bargepole right now to be honest.
He has had one season of professional football, albeit a great one.
He will most likely become a great player, but Spurs would want stupid money for him, and as a football chairman, I would be skeptical about dropping £40m on a player who could turn out to be a one season wonder.
Lots of young English strikers have popped up and had a wonder season(Andy Carroll, Andy Johnson, Darren Bent etc) only to fade into obscurity.
If I had to make a bet, I'd say Kane will most likely not fall in to that category, but not sure I would want to wager £40m on it.

Let him have another season at Spurs, see how he develops.

Seems to have his head screwed on (compare with Sterling) and has shown he has the ability. He could be our top striker for a decade or more. A chance to replicate or even better what Rooneys done.

The chance to work with Rooney will also be a plus for him. Hes already spoke about that.

We did the same with Rooney. It worked out great. Kane showed more in one year than some ever do. His value will only increase so now, while some uncertainty remains, is the time to buy.

Woodward to stock trader v levy the gimp. Levy has absolutely no chance.
