Under 6 mil for a captain and world cup winner? That's an absolute steal injuries aside. Experience alone is worth the price. A shrewd bit of business by Man Utd.!
We will end up signing Slava Shakili from FC Strausberg Tigers. I always have to say this in all transfer windows.
Shneid having a medical at United: http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/33502604 Some might not be happy, but I for one am not frustrated, don't think we needed him.
Exactly, one thing United have lacked for ages is some anchorman, you have sorted that out now with Shewin and Shneid. As for a striker, we're more than happy to give you Yaya Sanogo.
I think that's the top 4 sorted out next season TBH, can't see either Spurs or Liverpool dislodging any of the current top 4.
Main issue is we are carrying too much baggage at the moment. We've done well to move on Pod and Diaby (sad), but we should have done something about Flamini at least. We should have streamlined our midfield and brought in another top DM, but it looks like Wenger is sticking to just Coqs and have Arteta and Flamini as back up. In his own words, he has said he is waiting for everyone to get fit before deciding on bringing anyone in. Sometimes you have to clear the decks and look at fresh alternatives.
I think the fact we have renewed Arteta's contract shows its pretty unlikely we will sign another DM. Perhaps if Rosicky/Flamini leaves we may add another CM but in terms of numbers we are still pretty stacked in the centre of the park.
We will rue the decision of not going for a top DM if Coqs goes out injured. We should have got rid of Flamini when we had the chance and bring someone new in.
Pretty sure I saw comments that suggested we would listen to offers for flamini. I'd imagine we would be happy to move him on and bring in a fresh face, but we probably do have to let someone go before there is room in the squad. I'm still hoping we will see flamini moved on and a replacement brought in. As much as I'd love a DM and CF added to the squad, it could be that our main business is already done with signing Cech.
Hell has frozen over when you're disappointed that we didn't go for a player United did (and we a had a chance to), and I'm not.
So basically, while everyone keeps going on about Coq being a half season player, Shneid himself only played 4 more games last year in the league at least, and yet Coq still outperformed him. What more could people want? They played roughly the same amount of league games, and Coq was the better of the two, as per the stats, and yeah stats are stats, but we all saw how good Coq was with our own eyes, so in this case the stats just back it up.
You won't be laughing so much when Coqs is out and the only available DM player we have is Flamini for the next 5 or so games and have to face Chelsea, City etc.
If Wenger is genuinely happy with what we have, then we're out of the title race before it has even started. He got very fortunate we got away with it in the 2013-14 season because we ended our trophy drought and it was arguably one of the reasons why we lost out on the title, in addition to not getting a decent striker. He also got away with it last season because of the emergence of Coquelin in December which led to improved form securing automatic Champions League football & another trophy. There's no way he is going to get away with it for yet ANOTHER season with an aging Arteta and Flamini who weren't even good enough anyway. As mentioned above, one injury to Coquelin and we are monumentally screwed.
