    Good Morning Everyone,

Sol Bamba is almost certainly going to be club Captain this season.

It is such an obvious choice, it wouldn't be worth bettin gon.

    Two questions for you?

    1) When was the last time we had a Captain, as good as Bamba?

    2) Does having a good Captain help the team?

Citeh have just paid 49m for Sterling.

    Is this ridiculous money?

Should there be a capping limit?

How important was the result at Horrogate on Friday night?

Did we learn anything from our players?

Morning Elland and all. How football has changed. Who would have thought a decade back that City would be able to snap their fingers and take any player they want from Liverpool. As for Bamba, good to see his comments about Cellino at end of last season hasnt affected his Leeds career

Good morning matt and co from a rainy Bardsey
Sterling is still green behind the ears and can easily go off the boil I don't like his attitude behaving like a spoilt little boy if I were City I would have thought long and hard about how he treated his last employer and said no your not worth it
Friday was merely a training night so we can really assess anything from it but as you know I stock my neck out and said the lad who will do well next season will be Erwin
We still need some wide boys and a midfield player and yes Billy will go to the blunts he's merely making sure he won't lose out financially.I believe they have offered less than he's getting with us so he is saying I want you to make the difference up and then I will sign
Bamba will make a great captainI can't think of one since Strachan

Harrogate result is worthless so not bothered, as the reality is it was an agreed PR exercise with a local club. Players will be tired and aching even before it kicked off.

Bamba as skipper is ok as far as it goes, but remember he isn't Woody or Rio and doesn't have great games every week, so needs to on his toes as we have players who can take his place, we just need a good vice captain.

Good captains are ok as long as they are highly respected players that the squad look up to. If you don't have that you have a situation like I had: I played at a high level and went into a team at the end of my career as being someone known to score a lot of goals. I was made skipper half way through the season because I was the most experienced but I was one of the lads and someone who would be having a joke and taking the piss. I was someone the players looked up to in the bar or clubs not on the pitch.

    Good Morning all

Bamba will probably make a good captain. Wasn't he a good captain at the back end of last season during our vain of decent results?

On to Sterling and nearly £50 million in any normal world, yes that's a ridiculous price but we are talking about English Football. 60 you think Citeh should care about how he treats the Scousers. I don't and I'm not buying him. This is football you get the best you can for what you need and screw the rest.

As for the Harrogate Game didn't see/hear it so I can't comment

Sterling should not be picked for his country again, until Woy sees a change in his personality, because we don't want greedy little scumbags representing us. City should pull the plug on the deal as most of their fans are not keen on him. He should be held up by clubs who coach academies how not to behave and why the media will go after spoilt little boys. He aint guaranteed a place for England, Liverpool, City and deffo not anywhere in Europe, he aint that good and £50m is crazy

Sorry Doc got to disagree with you, if Sterling is preforming on the pitch for which ever club he's at and can produce that on the International level then he should be in the England squad. I don't care what he's like off the pitch the moment he pulls onn a England shirt then I care how he is.

60 you wouldn't touch a lot of players because they're not nice good example Barton, he maybe a twat but he's a good player in certain people's eyes. The thing is players can be ****ers at one clubs but well behaved at other just look at Diouf.

Morning all after my long holiday and gardening leave. Thanks to all of you who have kept up the news and gossip over the "boring" months. I managed to get some poor wi-fi links out and about and have enjoyed the usual banter.

To answer some of your questions Elland, given my age, I could think about a few captains who have been an inspiration to the club, John Charles, Jack Charlton, Billy Bremner. Each had different leadership qualities but I would finally come down on the side of Billy Bremner who had that fighting spirit and led by example. A captain certainly does make a difference both on and off the pitch.

Sterling ? I hope he enjoys his new found wealth( especially his agent ! ). His character has now been exposed and he will have to live with it wherever he plays. The price is ridiculous for such a young player but that is the way football has been going now for some time. Liverpool have played a blinder in getting such a fee.
A transfer fee capping would be impossible to monitor with financial "deals" around players image rights etc etc, and unseen "add ons".

As for Leeds United, been here before, got the teeshirt. A new season, ambitions, hopes and some wishful thinking will I fear bring the same results next season. There are a good dozen teams with the same hopes but some have a lot of financial support both from wealthy owners and parachute payments. BUT as ever I live in hope.... please hurry up though I aint getting any younger.

Wolves You can disagree with me anytime mate, I'm not going to throw my toys out.

Something PenDave mentioned got me thinking about the way the scousers played the Suarez card last season. They hung it out for £70m and let the manager blow it on shyte. I bet they don't make the same mistake this time with the £50m

Well our early signings were promising, more so because I was believing, Moore and Barker might well be joining along with a few other names that were being strongly linked.

Nearing two weeks on and these top names are not materialising, Rosler is also making noises that he is happy with the squad and we are still wondering who the "fantastic" signing was meant to be.

I hope this is not going to be another Warnock waiting for the marquee signings scenario...

    Afternoon All,

Let's get Sterling out of he way first. He's a snivelling little gobshite that puts the term 'professional' through the shredder. Pulling a sickie indeed! Hope he does his cruciate in pre season. Enough said.

Captain. Hmmm. Everyone seems to think it's nailed on for Bamba. If so, why has it not happened yet? It's a question I've asked myself, and my hope is that we're chasing a signing that would make an excellent captain. The word 'Barton' springs to mind - or someone of his ilk.

We've already done a thread on the Harrogate match. Key point of note is that Rosler deliberately put out a tired team, and it showed. It was a run-out as part of their pre-season training, rather than a proper match. I think Rosler will have learned quite a lot. Someone mentioned wingers again. Perhaps they missed my comment on the Harrogate game - Walters didn't get any game time at all. Not the type of team selection you'd expect if you were desperate for wingers. Based on this, I suspect that we won't sign any.

You've got me intrigued, Doc. Who did you play for?

Tend to agree with you too. I thought the last decent captain we had was Paul Butler. Appeared to do it on the field, but from what I hear, he wasn't well liked off-field.
