Valdez is a great shot stopper, but seems weak at handling crosses which De Gea suffered with too initially. It seems that LVG is looking for taller defenders to help in this area but I do share your concerns as it would certainly weaken us in a key position if he left.
More indication that de Gea could be staying ? Turkish club Antalyaspor claim they are closing in on a deal for Manchester United goalkeeper Victor Valdes. Valdes, who has only made two appearances for United in his six-month Old Trafford career, could become the third Champions League winner to join the Turkish Super Lig newcomers. Antalyaspor have already signed his former Barcelona teammate Samuel Eto'o and have been linked with Ronaldinho. Now they are aiming to bring in World Cup winner Valdes, who has one year left on his contract with United. Rafael is always injured. A real shame though as of he didnt have these injuries blighting his career, he would be the best rb around. Even with them when hes in the side, hes great. Shaw surely, with Rojo as centre half. Now with such a good DM in front of them do we really need to buy a centre half? Rojo, Smalling, Jones and, at a push if Shaw is at left back, Blind can all play there. (plus Evans if he stays). I say keep De Gea and forget Ramos, sod it. The all's that is needed is a back up CF to Rooney. Really we should just keep RVP and crack on with who we have now.
Looks like this season you are just signing red zone defenders. Last year it was red zone attackers (attacking midfielders/trequartistas etc). Beavis's method of team building is strange..
