They've already done that when they first came. Staffing at the club was dramatically reduced and Pearson/Barmby had no money to spend. Something seemed to change when Bruce came, presumably it was a decision to gamble on getting to the PL in the hope of making the money back then. The problem then was that just being in the PL costs so much that you make nothing back unless you do a Burnley.

I don't think people would mind if they said we can't spend big money and we won't be competing for promotion but it'll mean we can sell the club within x timeframe. It's Allam and his fans that are desperate for the situation you describe to exist. I find it far more irritating just pretending to be financing a promotion push when we really don't look like we are.

So the current rebranding is being done to increase income in advance of formal approval of the name change is it? And how's that working out so far? Big bucks are rolling in?

Trying to use any name change explanation other than a spat with the Council, tends to lead to these logical blind alleys.

A few clubs have proved you don't need to spend big money to reach the premier league. You do need a superb scouting network, a fully focussed manager and a lot of luck. I wonder if City's run of luck ran out some time in 2014, about mid August.

    I haven't demanded anything.

If I was to demand anything, it would be that the club was referred to as Hull City.

Because I expect our spending to match our income, obviously. <doh>

So that's hardly going to let us maintain high levels of spending then is it?

That depends entirely on how much income we generate, I'm still expect several outgoings, why do you think we haven't made a single bid yet?

Because Bruce took time off for a holiday to mope about being relegated while Dyche and Ramsey were getting busy?

Sounds like Hernandez may be off to Torino which will be good at least.

Steve Bruce has already said that he rang his contacts first thing every morning and then was taking calls though out the day whilst on holiday.

Amazing that no outgoings or incomings have been done then.

To compare our debt with Man U and Chelsea is laughable. They have guaranteed and increasing income streams for ever more.

There seems to be a presumption among some fans that we will be promoted again sometime soon, and everything will be ok, but we may not get back in the Premier League ever again. What happens then?

We have an owner who has 100% control, is owed 100% of our debt and who I have 0% trust in.

You do realise that Steve Bruce doesn't actually place the bids?

Steve Bruce picks his targets, Pete Chapman and Ehab Allam are responsible for making the deals happen, Bruce being in Portugal affects nothing.

It's not amazing at all, we're only spending the money we generate and only after wages have been freed up, I'd have thought that was fairly obvious.

Ok, so exactly how can Allam get his money back?

Pinning his hopes on another promotion would seem like a massive gamble.

Hopefully, he now knows he will never get his name change (for his sake and ours).

But this question won't go away, how will they get their money?

All they have to sell is a few decent footballers. I haven't weighed up what they might be worth, £40m?
    tops?

Righting off that debt seems to me, the only rational way forward.

From the Allams perspective, that's not ideal, but what else do they have left?

It's a tough one isn't it. That's why I can't see them doing anything other than writing off the debt.
