CHRIS RAMSEY: A PROFESSIONAL PERFORMANCE www.qpr.co.uk: “It was good that the boys went about their business in the right way. “They kept going – giving everything – when it might have been easy to coast and they deserve a lot of credit for that. “They all got vital time under their belts which is vitally important at this stage of pre-season.” He added: “In some respects it might have been a blessing in disguise with Skakhtar pulling out, because they are quite a long way along the line in terms of their pre-season. “Whilst Verona couldn’t really compete with us in terms of quality, they didn’t fold and kept going. “It provided us with the opportunity to get the lads’ legs going, get their movement and their passing going, so we were really grateful they came in and helped us out at the eleventh hour.” please log in to view this image WORKOUT: Chris Ramsey was satisfied with his side's winning start to pre-season The fixture was played in blazing sunshine at the Stadio Comunale di Dormelletto, Arona, with temperatures approaching 35 degrees at kick-off. Ramsey added: “The heat was extreme, which is why we had to play the last five minutes or so with just nine men, to protect them. “It’s a different heat to the one we’re used to back home, but all in all I was delighted with how the lads coped. “We’ve come through unscathed with no injuries and that’s vital at this stage of pre-season. “It means we can continue to work with a full allocation of players over the coming days. “There’ll probably be a little bit of fatigue tomorrow, but at this stage of the season it’s all about overloading the players, physically, to make sure they’re ready for that gruelling Championship season that lies ahead.” Forty-eight hours into the R’s tour of Italy, Ramsey expressed his delight at how things have panned out so far, adding: “It’s been good. “The new players have settled into the group well and the younger lads are integrating as I’d expect them to. “There’s a good spirit amongst the lads, but again, I’d expect that with this group of men. Finally, Ramsey reserved praise for the travelling R’s faithful, who turned out in good numbers despite the late change of venue. “The fans deserve great credit,” he said. “None of them have moaned about the change, which was out of our hands – they’ve just got on with it. “They’ve been really supportive towards the players, singing different songs and cheering throughout the game – we’re looking forward to giving them as much to shout about as possible next season.” Read more at http://www.qpr.co.uk/news/article/c...0-pre-season-2541556.aspx#kLMKKvPoycyGqyBJ.99
Try keep expectations down now Chris. 10 goals and a clean sheet. We are going to piss the championship.
Disarsterous...I think it's completely farcical that we don't have hoops. Nike are obviously more interested in designing Messi's pants than sorting out our tradition. TF needs to wake up.
God, the offish getting excited about putting 10 goals away against a pub team and that kit makes for one hell of a picture. Get on with scouting some Defenders and a 20 goal championship striker!!!
Aware it's not a real QPR kit but it's very nice Agree with other stuff on here The media team at QPR seem to be very cheesy and out of date TF hopefully has gone for a while Nice bloke but awful doing this
What was that verona stars team anyway???? Bunch of tourist who happenned to be there or what??? Never heard of it...Anyway the victory against any team is welcomed and now to beat monaco by five goals and then we talking
The Verona stars are basically similar to the old Glen Hoddle Academy. They are players who don't have a professional contract so they played Serie A/B teams in Friendlies to see if they can get picked up by any clubs. They were probably all no older than 21/22. What an experience for them, but from our point of view it was a training match and the real pre season starts against Monaco
I wonder how the Verona Stars would compare to Warnock's Devon pre-season where we played teams like Bodmin?
Well we won 10-0 but somehow that might now mean that if we play a better team and don't win that the players will become incredibly demoralised. I didn't really get it.
