    Gotta be Heskey for me. Always did exactly what the manager told him to do yet got tons of stick for it.
    Used to love watching Owen and Bergkamp and Roberto Carlos. And the one and only Zidane,
    Manager wise, seem to follow what Martin O'neill is doing
    Apart from Saints will check out Reading every now and then.

    My three other clubs are: Arsenal, Norwich and Bristol City.

    As for players I have never liked anyone other than our own players. Having said that that I did like Malcolm MacDonald.

    This thread (or another if necessary) has got potential for us all to do an all time XI and manager I reckon. You must've seen them either live or on live tv though, so no putting in players before you were born, and also excluding Saints/former Saints.

    Has this been done before? Thoughts?

    I'd go for Bournemouth as well. Do you think they know we have a soft spot for them or are they too fascinated by trying to drum up rivalry (according to Twitter).

    Right now I love Sterling, just for giving Kidneypool a taste of what it's like.

    If we did that, we'd end up with Robben instead of George Best.... Don't think I could cope with that :)

    Arsenal are the team I like most, partly because our encounters with them have been some of the best games I have witnessed.
    With the players, there are those who you admire as simply world class such as Aguero and Bale, and those who may not be the very best but who win me over with their personality. Rickie is an example. How could anybody not from Portsmouth dislike him?

    AFC Wimbledon. Now let's just hope that MK Dons fall down the league until the two teams are in the same division and I might finally accept MK Dons are allowed to exist as a football team.

    Exeter City. PL other than us: Bournemouth and Swansea.

    Why was MK Dons allowed to change their name from Wimbledon FC, whereas Hull cannot change their name to Hull Tigers? Not that I like stupid names for football teams, but why is it different?

    Fair enough FLT, I was actually suggesting it as I thought the older posters amongst us would have the bigger pool of players to choose from and it'd be really interesting to see who and how many they chose from different eras and why. Understand it may cause some head-scratching moments though. :)

    We'd still get outvoted! I'd be happy to see a thread to discuss people's all-time favourite players but a poll wouldn't work for the reasons FLT puts very succinctly. George Best IS the greatest player I've ever seen, and I've seen all, or most, of the players the younger members would vote for.

    I wasn't thinking of running it as a poll Chilco to be honest, just a thread where people put their opinion on their One to Eleven, but understand someone may use tallying in a rebuttal somewhere. Maybe there's another way of doing it, I'll have a think....

    Do it as a discussion thread. You could start with your 1-11 and then people could tweak yours or post their own. It would be a good discussion based on only players seen and if someone puts "post 19*#" after their team, we would know when they started and could even comment on alternatives from that era.

    It could work.

    The team I've always loved that wasn't Saints was the Arsenal 'Invincibles'. That team was always a joy to watch, especially Thierry Henry.
