Bremen picked up a red card, at least we didn't suffer that, I suppose it counts for nowt outside of the tournament anyhow.

We did want 2 cms, so I doubt that has changed. I just don't know who the other cm will be so won't guess a price.

Fair enough point, but this year is different than last regards 10 additional fixtures if we get to Europa groups, which surely has to be the plan?

Have you heard any names you can share for the CB & first CM spots at £10m+ then Beefy?
Obviously Clasie seems most obvious for CM and that's rumoured to be £12.5m right? That seems a fair deal for all, but an initial downgrade on Morgan.
Are either Van Dijk or Van Beek really proven enough to be £10m+ CB's or do you have any other names we're sounding out?

Me too, but that's usually when we start accidentally winning all the ties!

Les made it quite clear that he doesn't believe that playing european football means you have to add more depth to the team. Going by that, I expect we'll sign Toby and Morgan replacements and maybe another player in the midfield.

Well, I rather much disagree with Les on that, on the evidence of the other small-squad sides that have discovered that they've struggled with the fixture congestion. Thursday matches away in Eastern Europe followed by Saturday/Sunday matches against fresh PL teams is a huge ask, saying nothing about the increased likelihood of injuries.

I remember about half way through last season, or maybe a bit later, when we were discussing the Europa League. I seem to remember that the general consensus was to play (a few of) the kids in the Europa as the league was more important. God I feel old being able to cal them kids.

That's all true, but doesn't tell me we are bargain hunting, which is what to you said and I asked why you think that.

Last summer we spent what? 50m?

You were the one who said "bargain hunt" and inferred not spending; I just wondered why you think that? Making profits doesn't directly mean not spending.

We also received nearly 90m in player sales last year, though. As our sales this summer are much lower, it's quite possible that we're bargain hunting because our incoming transfer budget is being funded from the receipts of players sold.

Edit: should say that it doesn't need to be such...we're flush with cash, and it's still possible that we'll spend heavily this summer. But it's looking less likely.
