» Sunderland Advocaat wants Rodwell improvement SUNDERLAND, LATEST NEWS UPDATE: 1 HOUR 32 MINUTES AGO VIEWS: Sunderland boss Dick Advocaat has called on Jack Rodwell to improve his fitness levels ahead of the upcoming season. Rodwell joined the Black Cats last summer on a five-year deal reportedly worth £10million, although he struggled to impose himself at the Stadium of Light. Advocaat believes the midfielder showed great promise after breaking in to the first-team scene at Everton, but feels he lost some of his edge sitting on the bench with Manchester City. The Dutchman, who kept Sunderland up last term, is certain that Rodwell possess the talent required to be a regular but insists he must raise his fitness levels during pre-season. Advocaat said: "I've had a lot of words with Jack because he is such a talented player. "He has not shown that for me, and he knows that. It has not all been down to him, because it has also been because of his physical state. It has to be better." - See more at: https://www.clubcall.com/sunderland...improvement-1774678.html#sthash.mggxhsCF.dpuf Read more at: https://www.clubcall.com/sunderland/advocaat-wants-rodwell-improvement-1774678.html
There's a very good player somewhere in there with Rodders....we just ain't seen it yet, I'm sure DA will sort him out
well, he's not wrong. the lad could only manage 70mins when he played. sort your fitness out fella! clearly not a priority under gus puss
If he can get a good pre season under his belt and we can build his confidence a bit I think we will see something much closer to the £10 million midfielder we thought we were getting last year.
