Obviously no journos actually have a clue about what goes on in training but an interesting article.

    http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/newcastle-boss-steve-mcclaren-bans-6035984

Shows McClaren is stamping his authority on the squad which must be a good thing, I think Pardew was a bit light on the players and let them get away with a lot. Lateness and using your mobile in the dressing room and during matches/training are club fines at my amateur club and although swearing is discouraged if I was fining lads for that I'd be broke myself haha.

    Good on him.
I'm liking him more by the day.
Off the field a big, big step up.

Every little sound bite I hear about McClaren only serves to convince me even more that he's the right man for the job.

Don't get me wrong, this sort of thing is standard practice but there's no way Pardew could discipline players to this extent give his past behaviour (shoving a linesman, the head butt and the exchange of expletives with Pelligrini).

I find it hard not to be positive at the moment, there clearly is an intent to spend money from the club, the open training session was a step in the right direction in terms of communication and McClaren constantly talks about improving players and has confirmed he's looking to implement a possession based game.

There was even a clip of Cathro putting on a session about pressing as a team, I can't remember the last time we did that. We're normally all abut surrendering the ball, standing off the other team and breaking if the chance arises.

As I say, on it's on each one of the above points is very little, but put them all together and there is a different feel about the club IMO.

<laugh> You'll have to get creative soon to shoe horn a Pards reference into every thread.

I do seem to remember Pards being heavily criticised by some on these boards when he took a hard line fining certain players for poor behaviour etc. Victimisation was the call.

Personally just like Pards before him, I strongly believe McClaren is bang on here. You must have discipline and rules, the players have to know who is boss. If it means fining people, banishing them to train with youngsters or sending them home, then so be it. Act like child, get the treatment. Good start to proceedings from Stevo.

Hopefully he can get the best out of the players from last season, add a few more purples in, and use these motivational team building tactics to keep us from slumping like we did every season under Pardew and Carver.

But the difference was, Pards would try to enforce discipline.... Then go and nut a player the next week.
    It's a credibility thing I reckon...<whistle>

The wally in the brolly. Schteve. He may have discipline but he has no street cred. Whereas Pards is a metrosexual, well-dressed, beautifully spectaled, crowd pumping superb mover.

Go on get that gif out again playing along with the crowd.

His discipline was a bit iffy but he is a new man now and has learned to channel his passion after the heeeeeed butt.

Face it, Alan is a legend of a manager and a superb man of sexual repute to boot.

And on a serious note, it changes nowt, there are still some massive hypocrites here <laugh>

Anyway ACS I await more incredulous hatred of Stevo, he has only gone and mentioned the line:

“There is no secret, he (Wijnaldum) has been seen around the place, having his medical and all the scans that go with that.

“Hopefully we’ll get the results tomorrow (Saturday) and then we can announce something, it is not official and it is not over the line.

If by banging players wives behind their backs then yeah I guess he a sexual Tyranosaur but also a massive ****, one of the worse ever to have been spawned on this vile planet since the history of man. I put him somewhere between Jeffrey Dahmer and Albert Fish.

Like I've said before, I'm quite excited by not so much the schteve appointment but Cathro and others in the backroom staff.

We have seen flashes of brilliance from quite a few of our players, Tiote, Sissoko, Cabella, Perez, Aaron's, Cisse to name but a few. I was never convinced things were gonna change much under carver especially as so much else had been left unchanged (backroom staff). If we can keep hold of these players ive got a funny feeling that we're gonna see a very different squad of players next season even without any additions.

I'm not expecting overnight miracles and I think after 10 games we should start to see signs of a different approach to games. Let's just hope he has the balls to change things up during matches if things aren't working out, and more importantly closing games out if we're 1-0 up etc.

We may even see improvements in Le Gouff, Le Marv and Le Obertwat...who knows.

Let's just stop talking about Pardew for a minute... and discuss the coaching staff he retained & Carver who he personally signed up...

Players undeniable failed to adjust to both the premier league & failed to develop under the old system, I felt like at NUFC training was just purely to keep the lads fit, not to mentor them and teach them, set pieces got worse, players got a bit worse, and eventually signings got worse.

Major thing I can't wait to see is the improvements to our current players under a far better coaching team, riviera, Cisse, Obertan, Colback, Dummett, Haidara, Anita are all players I think have lots of potential. If we can get them improving, they are literally (no joke) 'like new signings'
