Everyone is talking about Essien's injury.

How about Josh, Gael, Yossi (Hopefully won't get injured) in the mix this season?

Gael and Josh were massively under utilized last season. Ofcourse they're not established but Carlo never fancied them.

    Will this change under AVB?

People who know AVB, can you chime-in how he is played youth in his previous experience?

Never understood why Carlo didn't utilise them more...would love to see both the youngsters come through...Yossi will be a good addition after that stupid injury as well, we lacked a bit of creative guile last season through his absence.

I think our massive dip in form really hampered them as Carlo's view was clearly it was the senior players' responsibility to get us out of the slump (which they did albeit probably too late). It would have been very difficult for a 17 year old to be expected to shine in those circumstances.

However fresh new season and the players a little older and more experienced, so who knows.

Personally I think Josh still has 1-2 years to go before he will be physically and mentally ready for consistent first team action. Gael hasn't really showed a lot to be fair when i've seen him either. Does anyone know how he got on at Fulham??

Gael never got any decent run even at Fulham. Guess we need to send Josh & Gael to Bolton.

Lot depends on Yossi as well - provided how thin our midfield has become.

Gunner in peace,it will be a brave call for AVB to give Kakuta or Josh a run in the side. At that age they are unlikely to be consistent and a couple of defeats are likely to have RA breathing down AVB'S neck. Bringing such players on when you are 3 up has limited use and Kakuta and Josh have done a bit of that already.

    Nail on the head there.

This is exactly why Josh may struggle to break through in the same way say Wilshire has at Arsenal. Wenger is established and doesn't have the same demands placed on him but then hasn't won anything for 6 years.

Somewhere between the Chelsea and Arsenal model would appear to be the right way of doing things....Man u????

I doubt that we will see to much of any Josh or Kakuta next year. I dont think either of them are ready to play reguarly for us. I imagine we will sign an established midfielder.

We are being urged to sign Cahill apparently by JT, offer Bolton 12m plus Kakuta and Mceachran on loan, send Bertrand to Swansea and sign Modric, Parker on loan and then the midfield places will be contested by Parker, Ramires, Lampard, Modric, Benayoun and either Mikel or a new signing(Moutinho, De Rossi etc)

McEachran, as a neutral looks a very good propect ( if still very lightweight) but can he seriously be considered as a replacement for Essien- surly replacing a lion with a teddy bear.
