Negative negative ****ing negative. We never played 4-2-3-1 last season at all then or 4-4-2. Never? Cos i know we did. Huddlestone will be fit for the start of the season. We'll sign some players. We can play Brady as one of the three or Aluko if needed. We can play Alex Bruce in midfield. Plenty of options. We have the best three CB's in the division with the potential of Maguire. We have huge potential in Robbo. We have a ****ing machine in Elmo. Aluko was excellent in the Championship last time. Snoddy and Diam to come back. FFS you lot stop whining its a million times better than last time we were relegated.
I'm not being negative, I'm just saying we've haven't got a central midfield yet, it's a fact, we haven't. I'm sure we'll have one when the season starts, but while comparing other teams squads with ours currently, you can't claim ours is better just because you expect it will be in a month.

I think Quinn and Ince leaving, despite being wanted, was worrying. I think we're short of numbers too, and that number will dwindle further. But I do think we'll keep enough and procure enough to do well, and I can easily see us being top 6. Mind you, no one can say anything with any certainty until much more business has been done.
I agree with Chazz to an extent. I'd say we definitely have the best defence in the league, hands down. There are very few defenders in the Championship better than Chester, Dawson, Davies, Maguire and Robertson, if any. Our midfield is worrying at the moment but if we can get a holding midfield player like Badu and someone like Whittingham, perhaps a new winger as well, we'll have a decent midfield for the opening day.
Hopefully, though I'm still confused as to why we haven't bid for Whittingham who we apparently want. We obviously can't get by with the central midfield options we have now, we've hacked loads off the wage bill already, along with getting £5m cash for Ince, why wait? I can understand doing nothing on the striker front until we've shifted the current incumbents, but that shouldn't affect midfield signings.
No, you're right, we should be pursuing Whittingham if we're interested. He'd be the ideal replacement for Quinn so I'm surprised there's not been made more of it.

Not as well as when we were in the Championship, but I watched a lot of the games last season and that's just my take. As has been said, we play three central midfielders. We only have 2. One is a workhorse and one I think will be horribly exposed in the Championship even more than he was in the Premier League. We need probably 3 central midfielders. I think plenty of teams have a better midfield than us. I've already said I don't rate Huddlestone. We'll see who comes in but I'd bet my bottom dollar none of them are better than Quinn. Brady isn't a central midfielder, nor is Aluko, nor Alex Bruce. The fact you'd even suggest Bruce in midfield shows that our midfield is in tatters. When did I say it was worse than last time we were relegated? All I said is I expect a midtable finish and that other clubs look in better shape than us. Brady isn't a central midfielder. If I had to name better midfield 3's than that, I'd go with: Derby: Forsyth, Hendrick, Hughes. Boro: Leadbitter, Clayton, Tomlin. QPR: Fer, Sandro, Luongo. Forest: Cohen, Lansbury, Reid. I'm sure there are more but there's four off the top of my head. The first advantage all those have over ours is that they're all cenral midfielders.
