    I think Sampras and Agassi did the same for American men's tennis which declined after they retired. Look what the Williams sisters have done for women's tennis with a steady stream of youngsters coming through.

    Sampras was a quality player but he was the first of the new breed of big serving monsters, aided by the new equipment.

    It was as dull as dishwater to watch.
