Ah yes, good old surstromming. You have to open the tin outside because the smell pervades the house for AGES inside otherwise.
I was at a festival in Belgian last year watching a Swedish band, midway through their set they sat down at this massive banquet table piled high with extravagant foods. They started eating surstromming and then decided to throw some into the crowd! Thankfully I was not that close to the front!! Edit: Also, LTL, that sounds like personal experience talking!??
Had to look up a crossword clue on google. Probably showing my ignorance here, but apparently a 'wall pass' is a one-two in football. Never heard of it. P.s. I know what a one-two is.
I think I'm right in saying it was always called a wall pass back in the 60's and 70's. I suppose it comes from kids practicing in the road or against the garage.
I grew up for some of my childhood in Sollentuna/Viggbyholm - both just north of Stockholm in a region called Täby.
I lived in both Taby and Nasby Park back in late 80s/early 90s. Wonderful city Stockholm - one of my favourites! Aim to travel back there next year for a few weeks in Sweden. No surstromming though
Blimey, sounds like we might have been neighbours! It's fabulous there - I do have a lot of love for the place.
Breaks my dad's heart when he sees what's going on in Africa. My older sister went to a school in Eldoret , this place . http://www.theguardian.com/world/2008/dec/27/kiambaa-church-massacre-kenya-survivors We lived in Nairobi . This place - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-27443474 http://news.bbc.co.uk/onthisday/hi/dates/stories/august/7/newsid_3131000/3131709.stm Also lived in Uganda ( Kampala ) and Tanzania ( dar-es-salaam ) . Holiday's in Mombassa ..... Would go nowhere near ANY of those places now
Lived in Parkvagen, Nasby Park (took the little train to Stockholm to work) then Tallasvagen in Taby (bus to Morby Centrum then tunnelbana to the city). Happy days - both my children grew up there and still have wonderful memories. In fact my daughter went back a couple of years ago and her boyfriend proposed to her at Ulriksdals Wardshus where they went for lunch. Old romantic he is
Tragic isn't it? I lived outside Johannesburg for 6 years and loved South Africa. Travelled to Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe and Mozambique and would go back there in a heartbeat. In fact, when my divorce is over .......
My only experience with the nordic countries is flying into Helsinki. The good side was the view...Helsinki looks like a forest with some building scattered in between, absolutely gorgeous and serene. The bad side was the fact that i was groped and assaulted by some joyless 'hitler youth' customs officer upon arrival. Oh and the language, kinda like normal words but with numerous j's, m's and k's thrown in just for a laugh.
Djokovic 2 sets up...going to be channel hopping between Murray and the cricket soon. Never a good idea as you tend to miss everything good in both matches.
