PSV Official Website has confirmed Wijnaldum is on his way for a medical.

Mitrovic also expected to happen within the next 48 hours. Will people finally settle down a bit now?

Fee of 14.5m has been agreed (that's pounds not euro's).

Huge signing, not necessarily about his quality as a player but more that the club are now willing to spend 10m plus on a player. People may well say we still need a striker and some defenders and they be right, but surely people must see that the club are finally looking to right some of their wrongs?

It will probably take a lot more to convince a lot of people.

For me if we get Mitrovic and Austin, then Matip this will have indeed been our best window yet.

It's enough for me. I now have trust in McClaren and that's a huge thing. I haven't trusted a manager since SBR (proper manager, Hughton was also a good guy). I now can let the negativity wash away with the understanding that we're going to do it right. Yes, it's one player, yes, in a position that isn't as urgent but this guy is a big name - title winning captain, leader, 24, goals/assists, drive and reputation - that will send a huge message to the rest of football that last season may have been disgraceful, but sh!t happens and we can move forward. Also finally gives an ounce of credibility to Lee Charnley.

Actually now really excited as to what else is going to happen - McClaren stated two players were close, and one we hadn't even been linked with. Wijnaldum we have for a week or more, wonder who else is coming? Will we make it THREE in a week?

What's this weird, warm feeling.....ow.....OW....my face is hurting, the corners of my lips are turning UPWARDS?! What cursed wtichcraft black magic buggery is this?

Oh, come on - you can't blame me for having scepticism! This MD chose Carver/Stone, stood by Pardew, bought Gouffran, Riviere and Cabella.

Got to say - the appointment of McClaren looks absolutely on the money. Guy's been top, top class the day he walked in.

Twitter is awash with fans of other clubs (notably palace and Spurs) questioning why Wij would come to us as we are tin pot.

    Love it,

If the fans and players believe in SM then who knows what may happen next season.

I think him and Mitrovic would be a cracking start. Signed just at the right time too.

It means we can now forget midfield, only need one striker but could probably get away with what we have, and can concentrate on getting the two or three defenders which are an absolute must. McClaren must know we have a problem here. The fact he is talking about 4 or 5 signings suggests he will do something. Having signed 2 reputable international players (if we do), others may look and think "I fancy that now"

Completely right - and the difference now is instead of thinking we'll be signing Tompkins from West Ham, I am content to sit smugly 'knowing' that whoever comes in will be quality!

Well we are being linked with Matip and Mkoulou. Both Cameroonian internationals. I believe Nkoulou has played midfield and right back too. Now he's only 5ft 11in but Matip is about 6ft 4 I believe. Of course ideally we'd like some home based talent but perhaps it just isn't an option finance wise.

I'd quite fancy a couple of lads who know each others game. That said I don't know what their defensive record is like at international level. The other concern would be of course, what the **** happens when the ACON comes around <yikes>

Matip should be our prime defensive target. Can't remember the last time we had a "beast" at the back. I mean Bramble was built perfectly for the position but just didn't have the brains.

If we could have any CB in his prime that's previously played for us I'd go for Woodgate. By far and away the best defender I've seen pull on the shirt.
