The 27-year-old completed the whole 90 minutes as goals from Danny Graham, Connor Wickham and a brace from Emanuele Giaccherini were enough to seal a comfortable victory for Dick Advocaat's side. Johnson was arrested earlier in the year and later charged with child sex offences. He appeared at Durham Crown Court last month where he denied three counts of sexual activity with a girl aged 15. The England winger was remanded on bail to appear before Durham Crown Court again on August 3. Born and raised in Easington, Co Durham, Johnson joined Middlesbrough's youth academy as a 12-year-old. He made his Premier League debut for the club in 2005 and was sold in 2010 to Manchester City. Sunderland signed him for £10million in 2012. The Black Cats decided not to suspend Johnson after he was charged and he played in the club's end-of-season victories over Southampton and Everton, which helped the club avoid the Premier League drop.
Nothing much doing on the football front so they're just filling pages. Bet they're not the only one's to print something about him playing.
But there's just no need for it is there. Do they expect him to stay inside, hide from the world and act guilty? He's damned by the press whatever he does!
Whereas all other British press is factually justified and warranted. Come on pal, they'll print what they want, they're trying to sell papers not win friends.
That was my point TJ. Wasn't singling out the DM. What I meant was that the press, all of them, act as judge, jury and executioners. They decide apparently, how he's supposed to behave, and if that behaviour doesn't conform to their expectations, they pronounce their judgement. If the guy believes he's innocent, he should go about his business the way he feels he should, not on how he might be judged in the press. And if he's eventually found guilty by his peers in court, then **** him. But not beforehand.
