Nice to see A & M fisheries still up there, they were always very good when I got them from there.

If you're ever in the area, the one at Wetwang is decent.

It's on the Main Street near the square if you can call it that. It's the shop below in blue - it's actually called Market Place. Not been for a while, but it was the best I could find locally.

In the area, Whiteheads in Hornsea is the best for miles. In Hull, Viking on Anlaby Road (well it was a couple of years ago)

    Class.

Anyway, I'd take the TripAdvisor rankings with a pinch of salt and vinegar.

Most chippys aren't going to bother listing on there. Probably wouldn't even know how.

The chippy at Wetwang is one of our favourite ride-outs of the year - a fair way out but certainly worth the ride.

Some now are. The one on Greenwood Avenue does and so does Bob Carvers now - just two I'm aware of.

When you walk past The Friary, you cannot even smell it, which, with other chippys, you can and that can lure you in. Sounds daft but that's why I've never gone in.

Whiteheads in Hornsea is so overrated.

Go once a year after we play them at cricket, you queue for what seems like ages and by the time your out of the place half the team have already eaten and half are already still in there. The overall experience is poor, you shouldn't be waiting for half an hour to get a decent fish and chips. Your then to annoyed to even enjoy the food.

All Electric Fisheries used to be decent, doesn't seem to be the same since it changed to Funky Fish

Whitehead’s must be doing something right, they’ve recently doubled the size of the restaurant, and as you’ve stated people still have to queue to get in there, even on quiet mid-week days.
They’ve created a strong brand identity over the last few years and backed up a decent product with active marketing, twitter feeds, advertising boards at City, first chippy in Yorkshire to achieve sustainability certification etc..
When you consider that their location is tucked away in a row of shops on the council estate, and not on the seafront or town centre, they’ve done remarkably well to get to where they are now.

You aught to try it. It's pretty good and comfortably the best in the town centre.

After that, Young Bobs near where the post office was, Goldenfry and Mucky Bob's.
