Sunderland Target ‘To Sign After Russian Super Cup. please log in to view this image Michel Spingler/AP Russian media outlet Fotanka has announced that Zenit will confirm the departure of Sunderland target Nicolas Lombaerts after this Sunday’s Russian Super Cup. The Belgian centre back has 35 caps for his country, and has been a valuable member of his club’s triumphant 2014/15 league campaign. A source close to Zenit claims that the upcoming clash with Lokomotiv Mocsow could be Lombaerts’ last, marking the end of an eight year spell with the club during which he accrued 170 league appearances. Like many Sunderland targets this transfer window, Lombaerts has previously worked under Dick Advocaat. The Dutchman ed Zenit to UEFA Cup glory during his short stint in St. Petersburg, although the defender was out of action with injury problems at the time. Advocaat clearly sees something in the 30 year old centre back, who will have undoubtedly matured in the seven years since their time together. He would further bolster the Black Cats’ back line after last week’s capture of Sebastian Coates, providing much-needed depth to a thin, ageing area of the squad. It’s good to see that Sunderland seem to be taking a sensible approach to this summer’s transfer window, placing a priority upon strengthening the most immediately weak aspect of the team while simultaneously looking for attacking options.
Sad but probably true. I genuinely think he's a quality player but the premier league was a shock to his system. Maybe he'll be better next term, now he's tried the soup. Anyone know who he's training with?
I really feel for him. I think he'd be a great player if we signed him but I don't see why we should be forced to buy a player who can pass a fitness test.
Charlie Austin failed a fitness test at hull, they were relegated by 3pts, he could have been the difference and saved them 100m
I know. He failed a fitness test, but by the sound of the stage of Ricky's injury he isn't fit to attempt one let alone fail one.
It's our argument. Fella, We found out back in march that he needed knee surgery. Inter refused to give us permission to put him under the knife, reason unknown but we'll find out why when it goes to court. We're saying get ****ed, he's no good to us like this, you should have ok'd the Op back in March. I Don't know if he's even had the Op yet with both clubs now claiming they're each others player but he definitely hadn't had it when the season ended.
****, according to this he still hasn't had the Op. Gutted for him. http://www.vavel.com/en/football/pr...sunderland-remain-stubborn-about-alvarez.html
If FIFA get involved in this then we are stuffed. They hate everything English so will back the Italians in their decision making. This is one way for Blatter and his morons to keep the Brits down.
