We want quality not quantity, but it seems we are struggling to pull the right players. I would have liked to see one or two new faces in the squad at least by now. Either we are being rebuffed or the players cotts wants are not available at this moment, probably needing transfer action somewhere else to start a chain reaction. One thing for sure we need signings and sooner rather than later, especially up front.
We need at least one signing in every area of the pitch if we want to do well in the Championship. Ideally, we'd get a keeper to give Fielding a challenge for his top spot. We definitely need a central defender that knows this level, especially with Osbourne out on loan for the whole season. We need a solid central midfielder to replace those that have left, and we need a forward that can score at this level.
Good job you Said RR.. They probably forgot to go look for players, what with all the ground improvements and that.
back from 3 weeks in spain and I thought we"d have 1 or 2 sorted, still time to play with so keep the faith,
We came up as champions and the best team in L1 by a distance. Do I think we can stroll to another title with the same squad ? No. But at the same time I'd rather SC waited to get the players he really wants rather than take anyone who's available.
Take a look later in the season and see how many clubs, and supporters, are totally satisfied with the players who were hired during this time of the pre-season. I really think that some of the decisions made by managers desperate to sign new players for their upcoming campaign make some terrible choices and this year will be no different. Being in the Championship makes it a more difficult process because not only do you have to decide who can step up to the new level amongst existing staff but also what additions need to be made to make the team more competitive. These will be difficult times for SC but if he has the footballing nous that I think he has then only time will tell whether his decisions on playing staff can take us forward. I believe he will hit the mark on many fronts and look forward to seeing what will transpire down in BS3. Keep the faith.
I reckon we will sign 4 and 2 loans, a lot of useful young freebies have been snapped up by others so we will likely cough up... I think JOE would have been good cover !
If the board and SC have targets in mind and are working quietly on them then that is fine. I really don't want to be where we were the season after the play off final defeat, struggling to tie down players and forced in to paying over the odds for Nicky Maynard as a panic buy
If there was a plan in place, you'd think that a deal would've been done by now. I've just noticed that Wigan have had a bid of £700k rejected for Grigg, one of the players many fans wanted to see at Ashton Gate last season. A £1m bid would probably land him, so I'm surprised that we haven't at least tested the waters. I say this every year, but I'd love to see us go for Freddy Adu. He wants to play in England, he'd be on probably the lowest wages of our first team, and one thing he's lacked is a solid manager that wants to nurture his talent. If he even realises half the talent he's shown in the past we'd have a solid player. Finally, any team that signs him tends to sell a ****load of shirts in America, so it'd be a great move financially. Regardless, I'm really worried about panic buys. I'm also really worried that Cotterill might have had a plan in place, and that he's ultimately going to be left frustrated if our board cannot act on it.
He was signed to a Finnish 1st Division side, but the last time he played was in their reserves, who play in their 3rd division.. He's a strange one. He seems to just like traveling the world playing football, and when he's had enough he tends to buy himself out of his contract and go elsewhere. The guy has earned his millions already so he can probably get away with it. He trained with Blackpool last season, and they almost ended up putting a bid in before he went off to Finland, so he can't be all that bad. His biggest issue is the lack of game time, but a decent pre-season and I reckon he could be a solid midfielder or forward. Despite playing for twelve different teams, he never seems to have had a good manager that has invested time with him. Cotterill is basically the perfect manager to get the best out of him, and if he can get anywhere near the form he showed to end up at Benfica or Monaco he'd probably be a solid Championship player.
We should get in some squad players up front and in midfield to cover for our current incredibly small squad
Small is putting it lightly We currently have 16 available first-team players. That simply isn't enough to start a season. We need at least four players to have a small team. The last time I looked, we were reportedly in for Will Grigg, Paul Anderson, and Tom Lees. The first and the latter would be top signings for us, but we still need more if we want to compete.
Bloody scary no signing, let's get real either we are struggling to sign players or they are signed up. personally think we are struggling to sign quality, possibly wages elsewhere being offered better deals.
it is getting close the mark I think if we have not signed anyone by next F RIDAY any we do will be "panic buys or scraping.............."
