This what's completely wrong with football today. No respect from a young player with the world at his feet. This just would not happen in years gone by. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ Raheem Sterling tells Liverpool that he won't travel on the club's pre-season tours in attempt to force move to Manchester City Raheem Sterling wants to stay in England rather than travel to the Far East and Australia during Liverpool's pre-season The 20-year-old is hoping this latest action will push through a move to City Liverpool rejected an improved offer from City of £35m rising to £40m By SIMON JONES FOR MAILONLINE PUBLISHED: 07:26 EST, 8 July 2015 | UPDATED: 11:52 EST, 8 July 2015 Raheem Sterling has told Liverpool that he does not wish to go on the club's pre-season tour. The England international is determined to force a move away from Anfield and it is understood that he wants to stay behind in England to sort out his future rather than travel to the Far East and Australia. Such a stance would force Liverpool's hierarchy into disciplinary measures but they would be reluctant to have such a cloud hanging over them as they go on such a high profile tour. Liverpool though found themselves in a similar situation two years ago when Luis Suarez was trying to engineer a move to Arsenal. The Uruguayan was banished to train on his own before accepting he was going nowhere and knuckling down. That is very much wishful thinking I'm afraid, he will leave, we're helpless to prevent it. Someone will budge eventually, hopefully not us. He would give us 25-30 goals in the Champ, a dream if he stayed but I can't see it happening. This is his big chance, and the club can't afford not to either.
Don't know why everyone is hammering Sterling about wanting to move to team playing Champion league football and competing for trophies. No one says anything about Southampton players pushing a move through to Liverpool etc. I agree it could've been handled better but its just kid been badly advised by agents. Doesn't make him a bad person for wanting to progress his career!
Exactly, I really don't care about his future career prospects at this point - let's just get him moved for £50 million and take our £10 million cut.
I can't understand why City would up their bid (hope they do). Liverpool have already signed a costly replcement, so what are they going to do? Let a potential 30 (after our cut) million sit around being a bit part player, makes no businss or football sense at all, whilst Liverpool don't exactly have to sell him it's pretty clear they want to strengthening City's position, other than media interest from the scum I haven't heard of a load of clubs rushing to buy him either. They haven't got Daniel Levy in have they?
I believe the number has been disconnected after getting so many calls. Otherwise it would be a bit dodgy of me to post it.
When he left us he stated he went to Liverpool because he supported them. What a tosser. When you get relegated, with the way football is today, your left with players who are not very good and the best ones leave. Last time we lost Remy and had to keep Wright-Philips. This time it is likely we will lose Austin, Philips and Fer. This is why it is so hard to gain promotion you have to rebuild every time.
Badly advised but don't honestly believe he's a bad kid and he really is still a kid. Liverpool are being stupidly stubborn about this. £40m+ is more than he's worth and everyone knows it.
