We're obviously after the Dutch now that we have exhausted the French market!

Indeed. Sissoko is a bit of a luxury to a club like us. If he was at yourselves, Chelsea, Man City or Arsenal, he'd be used sparingly as an impact sub or against certain opposition. He is not really box to box as he doesn't tend to get back to the other box enough <laugh> He looked best with two sitting behind him (Abeid and Colback) who did all the donkey work. He then stretched sides with his pace/power. It also allowed him to drop into wide areas.

Teams did work us out a bit though and found ways to nulify him. They simply dropped a bit deeper and didn't expose themselves to the counter as much. He then doesn't have the technical level or guile to be as effective.

I see this lad as a bit more rounded, a little bit better with the ball. He wouldn't be as quick or strong as Sissoko, but from what I've seen for Netherlands and PSV, he looks more than capable in those disciplines while also possessing a nice range of passing. I still think Sissoko would be a good signing for the top sides, as their managers would get loads out of him. We tend to rely on him as a "blue chip" and his consistency issue coupled with limitations technically, means he looks a little disinterested.

I personally hope Louis Van Gaal isn't looking at Sissoko, no offence but the guy hasn't got the vision to succeed in a fluid side. Like you say, he's brute force, he's all pace and power, but with very little of Yaya Toure's finesse. I think he'd suit a counter attacking team, which shows why he played so well for you lot in bursts, when you were set up to counter, against sides like Liverpool, Chelsea and Spurs.

I don't think he's going to get the offers he's hoping for to be honest, although the Wijnaldum pursuit could indicate that there's possibly a deal already there. Maybe you'll keep him and play Wijnaldum back in his old position, the left side he occupied before Depay moved in. That'd make more sense to me, but Wij seemed to play much better in the box to box role.

I think he's genuinely disinterested by the way, he seems to have had his head turned. Fortunately for you lot he had a bit of passion left in him for that last game.

I don't think Sissoko is technically good enough for yourselves or others as a starter. I was more thinking as the player you bring on when the tippy tappy stuff or fluid stuff just isn't working out. Its where I think Wenger often falls foul, principals and all that. Whereas you get someone like Mourinho, SAF, Klopp, Van Gaal, they are not adverse to doing what is necessary sometimes.

Sissoko wouldn't stick that out of course, but realistically, thats as good as he is. I could see him fitting in really well at Chelsea to be honest. Mourinho is very adaptable tactically, he likes to have variety in his squads. He will play counter attack if he thinks its the best way to win, he will defend and concede possession if he feels another team's tactic are more set for possession, he will go direct when required, and equally he will attack with fluid football. He doesn't just stick to the same old routine. Van Gaal showed with Holland, he will change between tactics and even formations if it means winning.

I don't really like the idea of switching this lad back left, I think like you say he has been a revelation since moved central and deeper. I watched a fair bit of him a few years ago playing left or behind the main striker. He was very good there, but he looks even better in the middle.

Chelsea have Zouma coming through, who suits Mourinho's tactics of shutting the door much better than Sissoko would. Ramires for me is the player who'd be in direct competition with Sissoko and that guy is one of the best for me, Mourinho is ruining him.

Love Ramires. His engine is ridiculous. Yeah he'd be the guy Sissoko would be covering. I think Sissoko is one of those who would just get lost at the best clubs, but never really be that much use at lesser clubs. Its not like say a Milner where he has that consistency to fall back on.

I was also surprised how poorly Paulinho did at Spurs. I watched a fair bit of him prior to his arrival and thought they'd picked up a top player. Never really happened. Then there was the curious case of Sandro. They never truly sorted him out even though it seemed injuries were a problem. Of course Paulinho signing for the chinese team and Sandro for QPR maybe says more about there desires than anything else!

Spurs are a funny club, they've the makings of a top side but they have an owner who seems like a top of the range plonker.

Spurs' were onto something, but they were gutted like a fish when Real Madrid come and took Modric from them. They've spend a fortune on players since he left and they have nobody fit to lace his boots in their side, never mind Bale. Eriksen is very good but he's not even close to Modric.

Their owner was more interested in making sure Arsenal didn't get Ozil from Madrid, than spending the Bale funds, he took his eye off the ball and set Spurs back a few years.

Funny club, funny fans especially when they start banging on about how their best players love their club and wouldn't leave.

I'd bet a considerable sum of money we won't buy this player.

    Today we're "pondering a bid"

lmao. Cant' tell if this is the club trolling us, or the club knows nothing about it and its the players agent. Why would you be pondering a bid? You either make a bit, or not.

Sounds like he is up for coming but Charnley is sat scratching his ass as usual. I think we will end up missing the boat on this one.

We'll have missed an entire armada by the end of the transfer window.
