ability to score goals from midfield will help him hold down a regular place at the Stadium of Light next season. The 24-year-old was Birminghamâs top goalscorer with ten last term and Gardner admits he has studied footage of Chelseaâs free-scoring midfielder Frank Lampard in an attempt to improve his goals tally. âAny time I get a chance, I will pull the trigger. I have watched Frank Lampard a lot and that is what he does â that is why he has scored so many goals from midfield over the yearsâ said Gardner. âI know the manager here is looking for more goals from midfield so hopefully I can continue the goalscoring form I showed at Birmingham last season and show the fans why I have been brought to the club. âI have always scored a few goals. Without being big-headed, it is one of the best aspects of my game, but reaching double figures last term was my best season so far in that department. âI scored ten, but even then I missed a few games through injury and suspension â so if I had played more games I may have scored a few more goals. âI canât wait to put the shirt on now and get started. There are a lot of midfielders here so the competition will be fierce, but I am confident I can break into the team.â i hope so son thats what we need
Reading the text commentary, he had a few long range shots on target and was unlucky not to score. This lad may well end up a fans favourite.
Absolutely & with Larrson chipping in too, we could have a record breaking midfield goal fest. Mouthwatering prospect.
Love it exactly what i want to hear from a CM, between him and bardsley we wont need to get into the final third this season, just give it to them from 30 yards and watch the magic happen
I know i am statto but i cant understand the i have always scored goals line. he has 17 goals in his career, 10 from last season, and larson only has 26 goals and 33 assists in his career, yes assists takes 2 to tango, but still cant see what all the fuss is about. (i am pleased we have them, just dont expect a goal fest or an assist fest as i feel you will be disapointed )
add that to when the lads up front do get in front of goal we should be more than able to take care of the mid/lower teams that we leaked points to last season
Haway Steve man, I was happy. I'm a manic pessimist you know. Now you've just brought me back to reality.
lol well we will see, not saying they are useless (but knowing our luck they will be for us lol) but they just dont seem to be as good as everyone is making out, on statistics anyway.
Steve, Thing is with those stats, more than half of his career goals last season = player maturing. Re Sebs assists. He was give 1 assist vs us at the SOL, but anyone who was at the game knows it was 2, as his ball in caused mayhem leading to the goal. How many 'indirect' assists to players have, as many times a great cross will lead to a save, and a rebound, thus, assist not given for cross, when that's what did the damage. Stats are only useful to a point.
It'll be lovely for the ball to go past the first defender at a corner............ By! That takes me back.......... x
Well lets see when they play, i just cant see gardner getting 10 goals again, lets just hope larrson gets 15-20 assists (proper or indirect), but i cant see that either im afraid (hope to god i am proved wrong though)
Easy now, let's not get carried away just yet...! Interesting thought though, anybody know the record for goals from midfield SAFC have scored in the Prem?!
