Did he not take up his option? Did I miss something? Is he now out of contract? No sign of him returning to preseason training.
I keep asking this too.... I think he is an excellent championship player.... I assume we have offered a one year option at lower wages but he is looking for a better option. I know he had to accept by a certain dates but cannot remember if it was end of June or end of July Anyone else know anything?
Note that we all seemed to know that Hill was staying, but the deal wasn't official until the last 48 hours.
I think we will keep Henry and although he is not the most gifted player i thought he was quite solid in the Premiership. Need players like him for cold Tuesday nights up north
Apparently signing on a one year deal this week. Good squad player in this League-no nonsense attitude. Another sensible decision methinks. http://www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/qpr-man-set-to-sign-new-contract
This will be good news if it happens. We need someone like him, especially with Barton probably gone, and Sandro a doubt with his work permit problem.
Barton has, thank ****, gone, with a gentle dig at us and accepting no personal responsibility for relgation in the process. here's what he said to TalkSport " Former QPR midfielder Joey Barton expressed his desire to sign for a ‘real football project’ after being released by the relegated West London side. The Hoops endured a season to forget back in England’s top flight, finishing bottom of the Premier League table and returning to the Championship at the first time of asking. Barton, along with several other senior squad members, was released after the climax to the campaign, and the 32-year-old hinted at a few regrets about his time at Loftus Read. “I’ve been on record before – I joined QPR from the outset on reasons that I swore I wouldn’t do again,” Barton told Drivetime. “I just want a real football project and to enjoy my football again. With the manner of the relegation – it was disappointing not go down fighting – I just wanted to get away from it and revaluate things.” Unlike many other fellow professionals, the former Manchester City and Newcastle midfielder has embarked on a rigorous warm weather training regime rather than going on holiday, and he revealed he has a number of options at his disposal. “I’ve spoken to a number of teams and there are a few options on the table,” Barton added. Have a listen to what CR says on Talksport very recently about Barton and many others (it's on another thread). Quite an interesting listen. He has probably gone as I said, or perhaps to be more accurate he has gone, but there is a possibility (small I think) that he'll be back.
Pleased about Henry I decent (for the championship) DCM Some one to come on and close a game....good decision All we need now is some defenders I wonder if we are looking at someone on loan for that...as Caulker is obviously not going anywhere (please, please prove me wrong )
If Caulker stays, which I hope he does, then I think he'll surprise a lot of people. He's working with a DOF and a Manager he knows well, in a better environment with players who want to be here, and I think he'll rediscover his confidence in the Championship with us. Both he and Onouha now need to focus on establishing their partnership at the heart of our defence, and we'll build from there. Agree that we could do with a loanee to support as back up along with Hill.
Unfortunately, any club with scrotum hair of intelligence will steer clear of Caulker ..... so I'm thinking we're stuck with him. Someone, some club please prove me wrong. To make matters worst, we're probably paying overs for him. However, we can only hope for better days.
I'm very pleased that we've got him for another year. He was one of the few last season who exceeded expectations and, with Barton gone, we need someone with his defensive abilities. He always seemed to be trying hard and had a number of good performances to his credit.
Terrible news. He did okay at times last year but only because of the limited expectations held of him, and he sometimes helped us keep the score down in games where we were battered and hardly had the ball. In a team that will be actually trying to win games, dominate the possession and have the onus on us to break sides down (not the other way round as last year) he's awful. It was for that reason that he was **** in our championship season and he was part of the reason we didn't score many goals then. Side ways and backwards passes with no contribution towards creating chances which puts extra pressure on rest of the midfield and strikers.
Did well last year, sensible to keep him for a year in my opinion. If we are meant to be 'consolidating' then it makes sense as someone we will need in midfield to help the younger players !
