Basem was more or less all out to win there, not in the same league of Farhh on that run. But he's gutsy, James Doyle said he was looking after himself with the going, thought it was too quick for him. So what do I know!
He's knowhere near as good as Faarh but that was obvious before the race, however that was a very hot mile handicap, I think there where a few future group horses beaten by him today, so I still think the performance was very good
Well that last race at Beverley didn't go to plan so let's try me luck again in this handicap. Going for those drawn low again in a f/c and t/c combi. PEA SHOOTER, THATCHERITE, FLASH CITY, RUSTY ROCKET.
Anyone just seen the ride Spencer has given Hundi? I don't know any other profession where you are allowed to be so laissez fair and make the same mistake day in, day out by hoping a magical gap appears to run through. In my opinion, and I mean this, he is an absolute disgrace to his profession. You can be unlucky sometimes in racing but Spencer has made it his profession. He is not unlucky, he is damn stupid.
James Doyle thinks he'll be a better horse with cut in the ground. His sire is Pivotal, who's children prefer it when it's soft. Just saw Alistair Down on Channel 4 Racing, he sure is a better presenter than Rishi Persad!
I am amazed any trainer picks up the phone to him. Yes of course he can ride a horse well at times, but it is not acceptable to take so many risks in your tactics day in and day out. George Baker was being interviewed the other day and put it very simply, the best jockeys are the ones who make the least mistakes. They can all ride but they cannot all use common sense with regard tactics. I suspect Jamie's huge smokescreen last year about retirement was just to disguise a little the fact he was sacked.
Horribly tactical race coming up at Sandown. Guessing Western Hymn will be sacrificed to make it a decent clip?
Said in the eclipse thread Frankie might just do that! Very good performance, takes time to get going Golden Horn but as soon as he hit top gear it was all over
Good performance - needed every yard of the 10f trip to show his best which is why he was pulling away at the line. Looks to be a very decent three year old, by no means great yet, but certainly very decent and with more potential.
There was a moment when I thought The Great Gatsby would go past Golden Horn in the home straight, but Jamie Spencer was riding The Great Gatsby so knew Golden Horn would win! Great ride by Frankie. I guess his next race will be in Juddmonte International at York where like Australia, he should win and win comfortably. But where next after that? The Arc? Golden Horn vs Free Eagle should be a race to savour, as I have no doubt Free Eagle will improve from his win in the Prince Of Wales at Royal Ascot. Rishi Persad interviewing John Gosden after the Eclipse.
No, it wasn't at all horrible, he won it well from the front as so often happens at Sandown. Fine performance too by The Grey Gatsby who pressed the winner hard. Golden Horn is a fine racehorse, how good we'll just have to wait and see. Time 2m 5.77s (slow by 0.27s) still pretty fast as all of today's races so far have been 'slow by'.....................
Very good Swanny- takes a good one to go and do it from the front. Very excited to see him in a King George- will be the first Derby winner in that racer since Workforce in 2009 I believe?
Nothing around to get anywhere near that. The Grey Gatsby should have won the Prince of Wales, confirmed by beating Western Hymn 2 lengths further today, Western Hymn beat 2 1/2 in POW, beat 8L, Cougar Mountain 1 1/2 3rd to Solow in the Queen Anne beat 9L. Considering he would have won by 5 or 6 in a normal race with a good lead id say the older horses have a mountain to climb and I wouldnt back any of them to beat Jack Hobbs either, these 2 3yos a class above the middle distance division and Gleneagles is probably a class above the milers, Queen Anne form looks average.
Spencer at it again on Forgotten Rules What an absolute waste of time he is. Why do people book him?!
