A rare and underrated one. Mourinho picks players who work hard for the team and are very consistent. Sounds ludicrously simple, but other managers give space to flair players and passengers at times and it costs them. Much easier to do when you're throwing around insane sums of money, but others are in similar positions and don't use the same approach. We've all seen players who have talent coming out of their backsides, but only do it when they feel like it. That produces some great moments and superb entertainment, but not as many trophies as those that combine talent with a great attitude.
Whatever. Someone who is ITK at St Mary's (and is normally right) has said Alderweireld to Saints is close.
Various sources are echoing each other and claiming that we're in for Aleksandr Mitrovic. The 20-year-old Serb did a mean Harry Kane impression for Anderlecht last season. He scored 28 times in all competitions, 20 of which were in the league. Haven't seen enough of him to judge, yet. Looks aerially dominant and physical.
All the gossip is saying Atletico have cancelled their agreement with you to sell him for 6.8m. That implies we've entered the frame
...and as 'Pool have discovered on many several occasions in the past, when Levy goes after a player, he usually gets him.
That's old news - that happened 2 weeks ago. We've made an £18million bid and Alderweireld is expected to discuss personal terms with Saints next week.
This is a tough one. It may be best for us to be signing defenders in order to reassure Lloris. On the other hand, I’d rather not get Alderweireld, all things considered. As tempting as another good Belgian is, I’d rather Dier start, and it looks like CB is the only place he may start. He’s younger than Alderweireld, he’s certainly faster, and I think he will be as good or better. The money rolling into PL clubs can be taken as a sign that players are good investments and tend to be undervalued. So their price, and PL teams willingness to spend more, should increase.
The Fail are claiming that Levy's in Madrid now and he hopes to wrap up the deal over the weekend. Congratulations, Saints fans!
"I hope that (Nathaniel Clyne) stays because it means we will have a good team for next season." - Ronald Koeman, May 2015 Remind me how that one worked out.
