Broke Serena 3 times in the third set and even served for the match, but wasn't to be. Fantastic game.
I'm very sorry if I appear a little jaundiced to all this stuff. Every once in a while a big hearted Brit will push a great player to the limit... and lose. They've been doing it for decades.
Just watched the match and thought when she was 3-0 up in the third that she just might do it. As soon as it got to 3-3 I stupidly wrote her off but she pushed Serena all the way. Pretty good for someone ranked 59 against the No. 1. Fantastic effort.
I agree. Serena had to go into all-out beast mode to beat Heather, which not many women in the world outside the top 5 ever achieve. I appreciate the cynicism of others, but when you see anyone, of any nationality, playing way above their normal level to take on a giant in any sport and push them to the limit, it makes compelling viewing. The fact that it was one of our own, and a fellow islander of MLT to boot, just made it a brilliant performance.
Heather gave Serena problems in most games...this wasn't a case of playing your luck. If Heather's serve had been more on song, she would have won. This was a great game and don't let anyone tell you differently.
Your'e entitled to of course. I'd just witnessed her incredible effort, and felt impassioned to defend her, like a plucky brit!
I was looking at pics of Danni and Kylie together, earlier today before I set off for work. Years ago I would have picked Danni as the prettier one, but Kylie certainly has something about her these days. Maybe it's that she's 47 and still looking great, whereas her Sis is 43. Must be sheer admiration. She's only 9 years younger than me.!
Thank you, FLT. I did. The under-the-counter merchandise arrived safely. Just the other week, one of my female rambler friends reckoned I was only 40. Pity she's taken. Her partner reckoned I was 45. I find I like them an awful lot more than I thought before.
The Graham Norton show is the highlight of my friday night! In other news, I've just broken my fast with a Subway. So from 2am-ish this morning to 9:35ish, I had nothing to eat or drink! It was tough, but the hardest part wasn't the lack of food but the lack of water, and not the hunger but the sheer lack of energy! It was fine until about 4pm this afternoon
I bet she said you were 40 and he followed up with 45! Bit of over protection there.... I reckon you're in there TSS
Can't believe I'm going to say this, but ... Be careful. You're not used to doing that and people of that religion are.
