In the professional game only results matter. Im talking from a clun and players POV and not a fans.

Fans expect entertainment. Clubs expect results. Results pay the bills and bring in the money and stars.

Do some research on Arsenal, everything you need to know about this subject comes back to Arsenal. They received zero trophies for pretty passing. Zero.

The only time entertainment is as important or more important is in exhibition matches. In professional football, the result is always the priority. Its all that matters.

Can't say I agree with that. The Barca team from 2009-2011 played some of the best football I have ever witnessed and won it all, but I do understand how people would find it boring though. Bayern's ruthless, direct counter attacking style that conquered in 2013 was great to watch

Maybe it is you who should be doing the research.

You will never understand UIR. The reason arsenal (or any team) didnt win trophies is bcos they're not good enough, it has nothing to do with entertaining football. Stop buying this skysports peddled bullcrap. The only reason we are sold this bullshit is bcos our Brit pundits need to defend the dire 5hit managers like allardyce and pulis serve up.

As for arsenal, they failed bcos they lacked defensively for far too long. Just bcos you play entertaining, expansive, attacking football it doesnt mean you dont have to worry about defending. As soon as they've started sorting out their defense and begun to add a bit of steel in midfield the same entertaining, attacking football has prevailed. If arsenal strengthen in the right position they will become title contenders. That doesnt mean they/Wenger wont be playing the same expansive, fluid attacking football does it.

I cant stand this bull5hit we're buying into. Thank fck the likes of Koeman, Monk, Laudrup, Poch and a new wave of managers are giving it a go.

You misunderstand me mate. I'm not calling for Barcelona clones. Their way was just ONE example but why not Bayern? Or Milan? Or Swansea? Or Southampton. You have to look at the team's potential and ask yourself if we're going to finish 6th, how do we want to do it. 10 men behind the ball or try playing in the true spirit of the game. By all means be organised but have a team with ball players as much as stalwarts.

Every single one since Wenger became there manager. Can't say I agree with it or that I think it is in any way compatible with today's game but Wenger sticks to his passing style no matter what and has done since he started.

Maybe I am misunderstanding you. Are you referring to a imaginary exclusive trophy just for pretty passing ?

And THIS is why you will never understand mate <ok> Your thinking ONLY ever applies to the top 4 clubs. You never think about the other 16 clubs.

What are you on about, you say entertainment is as important as results. It simply isnt. No matter how you spin it.

And before sky, football was nowhere near the level ot is today, even the most boring sides look brilliant compared to many pre sky era teams. Theres a video of a United v Liverpool game, the United tactics were for all 10 outfield players to rush in a line. Liverpool lobbed it over and had a clear run at goal, someone passed to an offside dalglish and he misses. These sort of tactics were common place as was blindly hoofing it.

Liverpool dominated the game playing dreadful football.

The best sides know how to win, regardless of how. They dont care of they bore others to death or have 3% possession in one game. All that matters, and all that will ever matter at the very top, is who won. 100 years on, nobody will remember Saints, Swansea, Arsenal or whoever. They will remember the winners though.

I am not saying clubs should forget about being entertaining if they want to be successful. They just need to remember it's not the end of the world of they're not.

Yes, Burnley really prove your point about the importance of entertainment. Results were of no importance...

Oh wait, they would have given everything to be a little duller but pick up more points. At that level, their fans would have too.

Or maybe Southampton are a better example. Very defensive style, picked up results, had a great season.

Would you rather win 1-0 and play rubbish or lose 5-0 but play like 1970s Brazil?

Picked a name at random, the also rans are always forgotten.

Nothing against Saints, one of the good clubs. Nobody in 100 years is remembering last season though.

Ha ha you still dont get it. Read my lips mate. Guess what, Burnley got relegated bcos they werent good enough. Even if they had played boring football they still lacked the quality to remain in the prem. It is exactly the same principle as Arsenal not winning trophies during their drought. It has nothing to do with creative, attacking football fgs <laugh> This IS the myth.

And your example of Southampton spells out why you really don't understand and never will. You use the term entertainment, I never do. You seem to think that being good defensively only applies to boring football, I don't. And btw Southampton's style of football is top drawer. It typifies what I mean and why we need more managers like Koeman.

Their style is defensive, tactical football. Not exactly entertaining.

United in the 90s played entertaining football. It was all out attack. Not very tactical but 100mph and relentless.

Saints, Atletico Madrid and the like play tactical football. Both are and will go ultra defensive to get a result.
