The difference with Remy was that he had a release clause in his contract - it's very unlikely that Austin does. If the club decides to take the gamble, they can just keep him to his contract. The fact that they have this option should ensure a good price when he is sold.

True, though it's still possible that if a Chelsea or West Ham come in with £18m two hours before the transfer window closes at the end of August, TF may decide it's too good to miss. If we don't sell, it could be nervy going towards the transfer deadline if there are sharks circling...

We needed someone to get the ball rolling. Leicester have done that for us.

I think under Les we will not lose Charlie at the 11th hour. It will be sorted before then.

Seems there is some mental scars that leaves most of our fan base quivering wrecks over this Austin sell.

So frustrating seeing all the negative spin on a no lose situation!

That's about the worst scenario we can come up with and its actually really good news.

Think the Remy situation even though it doesn't fit because of the release clause has scarred some.

Unlike Remy- we don't have to sell if we don't have a replacement BUT we already have 3 strikers- there is still 2 months left!! And loan window goes beyond Aug in championship.

There is no prospect of us getting shafted.

Other worst case scenario, we have Charlie scoring goals till Jan at least and good luck to those clubs who missed out finding a cheaper alternative capable as scoring as often as him!!

Do you not think he's moved on since then? Now proven top quality prem stiker. Recently married and with kids and reluctant to move far from home. Can't think why he would want to go for another relegation battle and have to up sticks and move again or be stuck in midlands playing championship football after next year

... as football fans we all hate it when our favourite (good) players leave ... but the reality is that there is little room for club loyalty in football outside of the fan base ...

Now if QPR were to receive a bid that met their valuation from one of the clubs that are going to play in Europe this season (particularly one competing in the Champions League) then that would no doubt be the best fit for both QPR and Charlie ... if no such bid happens, then Leicester City FC is as good a place as any other in the Prem ... provided they meet Charlie's (and his agent's) remuneration expectations ...

... and that is all ... Shearer, Sutton, Sherwood, Batty & co did not join Blackburn Rovers because they were dazzled by the clubs heritage and a love of flat caps, whippets and Sunday walks across the Pennines rest assured ...

... yes you are quite correct ... we have little chance of staying up ... I'm sure if you had ended last season as THE form team over the last 10 games (some club named Chelsea were second over that period) you too would now be rushing down the bookies just like me to lump on certain relegation before the odds worsen ... and probably just like me you'd be getting mildly itrritated with the ambition of our owners who seem to want to scupper that banker bet by signing the Austrian captain (aren't they top of their Euro group by the way) and the Japanese Centre-forward ... why can't they just accept the inevitable eh? ... don't they realise that if they strengthen much more it might be a toss up between us and somebody else for that last regegation spot!

... recently married with kids and reluctant to move from home - geographically Leicester, just like Newcastle, is a stone's throw from being in Scotland of course ... and I suspect Charlie just hates the SNP too <laugh> ...

Ashley's a tight bastard, won't pay more than £10 million so that counts them out...

I still won't be surprised if Bournemouth make a bid...

All I can say is if he goes there of all places after they've just sacked Pearson he will be certified insane. That's not intended as a wind up or a dig at our friends but surely only an idiot would go to a club that has just sacked a manager who has managed to galvanise his players to such an extent. If his successor does well, we still have him and if you are top of the Prem come the last week of the transfer window then by all means

No idea why you think that.

He's played for Burnley and accepted a contract from Hull.

You are kidding yourself if you think you aren't relegation candidates. Austin wouldn't be that naïve and knows he has the pick of a number of clubs. All more appealing than living in Leicester. And while its a lot closer than Newcastle it's still not exactly pop round when ever you feel like it journey.

You say top in last 10 games. Well you can also look at that during the 28 games (which is a better gauge than 10 games) before that you were the 20th best side!!! Which includes ****e teams like ours and Burnley!! That was the same players!! The points you did earn came in spurts guided by a manager responsible for your success who is now sacked?!

Now I'm assuming references to an Austrian captain and a Japanese striker are supposed to be impressive but the last time an Austrian leader and the Japanese teamed up it didn't end well for them!!

The year after we last stayed up we had the best home record in the league over the last quarter of the season, we signed a 25 year old centre midfielder from Real Madrid who the season before had started for Mourinho in 3 el classico's and both Champions League semi finals, we also signed Brazil's number one from Inter Milan still in his prime which is a bit more impressive than the footballing superstars you refer to. We were all very excited and optimistic but neutrals could see through it.

They were stepping stones, as are we.

18 goals in the prem to be rewarded with signings for leicster isn't exactly fitting.

He'd be better off running his contract down and getting snapped up by a big side on a free like Ings did. Would need a relegation release clause going anywhere near a side like Leicester

Good on us for rejecting this bid.

If any team wants Chas then show us the money!
