Saw it the next day> I actually thought when I first saw it that it was a quality strike, not knowing it was an OG. One of the best OG I have seen.

Having watched all of England's games they don't seem to see a pass the way men do (and I don't mean sexually) and can't seem to string more than two passes together. The referees also give free kicks if one of the girls farts too close to the opposition player.

I think Womens' football (I hate that term) will improve with time and investment. Although football is the worlds national game, well Europes' at least, Womens' football is still in relative infancy.

The more investment it gets the more professional the game will become which will encourage and attract better coaches to the game. Good coaches make good players, or at least improve them. I'm sure the fans will turn up once the product has improved through added financial support and incentives, especially if it becomes a summer game offering year round football for the addicts.

Enjoyed the tournament in the end, after a few shaky games and I feel so sorry for the Lionesses, particularly Laura Bassett scorer of the home goal. England were the better team by far and to lose that way was extremely cruel but also very English; you just knew something was going to happen.

Japan offered nothing but resistance while England had a go and are unlucky not to be playing the Americans on Sunday when I think the Yanks'll tank the Japanese. 3-0 USA

Unlucky but well done Lionesses, thanks for the eye opener <applause>

I hear what you are saying and I think most of it is probably right, however I don't think it will ever draw crowds in big numbers, except for maybe World Cup, Olympics. League football in the UK imo will always struggle to attract people. The problem is how popular men's football is and fans simply cant afford to watch or dont want both. That coupled with and am sorry to say it that it just isn't very good when comparing, I see it struggling to grow in terms of viewer numbers for the foreseeable future. In terms of participants I think it will grow.

I am glad England lost I just couldn't have dealt with the media coverage again over England, It is bad enough listening to how the men's senior side and the u21's are going to win every tournament they are in prior to going with out adding another to it only for glorious failure every time..

When I say 'fans' TLF I was thinking 4-5K tops but you never know.

Its still relatively new to us all and, I hate to say it, has a bit of a novelty feel about it. The more its televised/shown/watched the less of a novelty it will become and increased investment will make it more competitive and therefore, more interesting or more of a spectacle.

I'm sure it can attract at least the numbers who watch our Rugby regions, except the Ospreys, it just needs a financial push in the right direction.

You never know, we could see Swans beating Man Utd and Arsenal 4 times a year <laugh>

I don't want to sound a sexist, but I just cant watch it, I have tried but ended up switching off after a couple of minutes. It holds nothing for me and maybe it is my age. I think the younger generations coming through may have more patience's with it and will spend time watching. saying that my son is in the same boat as me (he is 15) his words were 'daddy this is rubbish' and switched over. the issue is getting people like him to watch when they can watch as many games as they want in the PL maybe they should be aiming at an audience of the young girls out there.. It is going to be a struggle for the people running women's football for the foreseeable future as I say not to get people playing but to get people watching,

The issue for Swansea ladies is they play in a Welsh league so will never (I assume) be able to grow into playing other PL ladies teams.

Get what you say TLF, but people watch golf, Swimming, cricket(maybe not), beach volley ball (now that really is sh1t), snooker, we'll go watch anything.

Old crusties like us will have a problem with it because we've been spoiled by our fun in the Prem as well as Champions league footy, Barca etc. Nothing can compete with those but on a smaller/different scale; eg 8 team leagues with cups playing through the summer, games played on Friday nights for example, Womens footy it could generate a small, to start with, fan base but your right it will never compete with Football.

If it was a more competitive it would be more exciting and this is what's needed to generate a following. I might even shuffle along to a game or two.

Yeh I think it will have its following all sports do. I just don't see it growing like they are pushing for it to. If the people running it are completely realistic then it will find its niche. If they start trying to force it down peoples throats they will go the other way.
