What's this with the people at the match? All they seem to do is watch the big screen so they can wave when they can see themselves on the screen. What simple minds they must have.

One of the quarter finals there was a lass right behind the goal when somebody scored having her Sunday dinner or something, these Canadians/Americans have funny ideas about watching sport

Good luck to England tonight, I am hoping Ellen White still has a part to play, her more physical approach and technical ability might come in handy against Japan. Fingers crossed they do it, would be fantastic to see an England football team in a World Cup final for the first time

Oh, that's right. Simple minds for everyone in Canada. I guess that's why when the banks in Europe and the US had their meltdowns and screwed their economies, Canada carried on unscathed. A simple minded Canadian, Mark Carney, is Governor of The Bank of England.

A lot of us have Sunday dinner at sporting events in Canada even when it's not Sunday or dinner time. Burgers, hot dogs and cold drinks are part of the atmosphere and occasion. Doesn't something similar happen at UK football grounds? We just don't have a pie culture.

He's talking about some people at a football match, he didn't just insult a whole nation ffs.

I haven't seen Mark Carney at any of the World Cup matches.

And the overreaction of the week goes to...

Frankly I think you owe Peter an apology for that response.

That's OK. Anybody can overreact sometimes, even Canadians.

Don't forget that the vast majority of the fans shown on the big screen at the USA v Germany match were Americans.

All this Sunday dinner stuff, as far as I know American football and baseball games go on for hours. Struth, I'd be taking dinner, tea and supper with me!

Exactly - why he took your post as an attack on Canada is beyond me.

Ironically, oversensitive nationalistic fervour is usually the speciality of Americans, and not something you'd expect from most Canadians.

I didn't mean any offence, it's just unusual to see for us Brits, I think if I tried to have my Sunday dinner on a plate with all the trimmings behind the goal in the second half of a match in the South Stand people would think I was crazy

Can't wait for kickoff, it's so hot I think a lot of people will tune in to watch instead of trying to sleep. I hope we really go for it
