    Such a ridiculous comparison.
Homosexuality is a fact, it exists and its something people need to get over.
Religion, well you can take two stances as a non believer.
    1) Become a hippy-ish, overly liberal douche bag, who wants to "understand" everyones way of thinking and love everybody. And just blatanly ignore all the injustice and death that is carried out in the world in the name of organised religion.
    2) Try to educate people about the follys of religion and why you feel it best that humans realise it is an archaic throwback to medieval ignorance and humanity will never ascend to the next level unless we throw off its shackles and try to understand what is actually real and whats best for the continuation of our species.

Number 2 doesnt mean you go militant, or "brainwash" people.
I have had to put up with all manner of smug **** telling me that atheism has become a religion in of itself and you are just as bad as they and blah blah ****ing blah.
Education, thats the way, we breed out religion, just like we are breeding out racism here in the UK.
Yes, there are countries who are a couple of hundred years behind us, (the middle east), but given time it will all happen.

Because if evolution has taught us anything, its that anything that f*ucked, wrong, inept, unnatural, and downright ****ing stupid will die out.
    And religion is no exception.

Well I would say that anyone who fancies men is gay, whether they act on it or not.
If men arouse you, and women dont, then you are gay, regardless of how much pole you smoke.

'Educate people about the folly of religion' etc ... This all presumes you're right about the non-existence of a higher power. Why should we believe you? This will always be a two sided argument no matter how hard you want it not to be.

There's far more people been killed by atheists than religious. Also, if you could brainwash religion out of the world, how much better would it really be?

    Again with the brainwashing <laugh>

How much better will the world be when religion goes?
Humanity will find out, one day, of that I am certain.
    Not in our lifetime though.

I am not asking you to believe me, I wouldn't look to convert someone who has religious beliefs, they will either realise naturally or not at all.
What I am talking about is making sure children do not become religious in the first place....exactly the same as with racism. This stuff needs to be caught early and nipped in the bud.

If religion vanished we would still kill each other. It just wouldn't be in the name of make believe. People would have to accept responsibility for their actions which would of course, reduce deaths.

Religious fanatics kill because they accept no responsibility for their actions. No religions means no excuse.

I only used the word brainwash because it's recently been used by non-believers talking about faith schools. So I was comparing - if it's brainwashing in, then brainwash it out.

You've said yesterday you'd like to destroy religion, I asked how exactly would you do that since religion is just the people who practise it. You didn't answer that point. If you advocate destroying something that sounds pretty much like you want the world to think the same way you do about religion. I have no desire to 'destroy' atheism or to make everyone [or anyone] think the same way as me.

Its my way of thinking I am afraid.
I cannot see past mankinds destruction if religion is left in the picture.
I genuinely worry for our species if it is not eradicated. If you believed that, could you just do nothing? and not act?

I assume you are talking about China?
They have a imposed secular government, which is atheist.
They chose to fast track my plan basically.
Instead of breeding out religion, they anhilated it. I couldn't in good conscience do that. Too many innocent deaths. But the results.......fascinating and enviable to say the least.
Again, cannot condone what they did, but can definitely get behind their reasoning for it.

Given all that, what actions are you currently taking?

Thats the point, they have none.

Non believers (more than just Atheists) cant and dont blame a higher made up power. If they commit horrific acts, its on them.

A religious fanatic will believe god is responsible or that they are doing gods work.

Both are responsible. Only one accepts that fact though.

Right now I am talking to you on a Not606 message board :)
Seriously though, not as much as I would like, given being employed full time, a husband and a father.
I do research for a left wing online news group, they are a little TOO left wing (I would say I was 70% left wing), but I agree with a lot of what they say.
I fact find, cross reference and search out articles for them.

The way to end religion is education and modernisation.

    No need for violence.

Not talking specifically about any one country.

One example springing immediately to mind though is the Khmer Rouge who murdered more than 2 million of their own people, banning religion and turning churches into stables or for other agricultural uses was one of their lesser crimes.

The very same measures ensure religion is reinforced.
