" I am the greatest", usual slogan of Mohammad Ali
"Rumble in The Jungle" was one of his great fight.

My Dad [love him, miss him] boxed in the Forces and loved the sport. He claimed The Brown Bomber - Joe Louis was the best - better than Ali - so I'm voting him ...........

Do we need some stats here, I think we need some stats -

    Joe Louis - 72 fights, 3 losses, 57 KO's.
    Mike Tyson - 58 fights, 6 losses, 44 KO's.
    Ali - 61 fights, 5 losses, 37 KO's.

I'd go along with that. Tyson didn't just beat his opponents, he beat the **** out of them.

I don't think Marciano was ever beaten (not checked). Many years ago, they staged a computer-generated fight between him and Ali. Marciano won.. He was a beast as well <ok>

I bet if you did a computer-generated fight of Ali vs Foreman, Foreman would win. But the reality with Ali was often different.

for me greatness is such a word.

    mayweather is not great.

he is awesomely skilled and fast but he's got no power and is a grinder on points. Dull in other words

ali took 3 titles in a time when titles were rarer no and had the defining fights when there were such a thing. he started the hype thing.

Mayweather can never has one as the hype makes all the fights now seem wwe.

sugar ray fought at many different weight levels i understand.

  19. I was born in 1981 and certainly wasn't able to judge boxing upon birth <laugh>

Ali, Sugar Ray, Joe Louis, Rocky Marciano, Hagler and Frazer were all before my time.

Only Mayweather and Pacquaio are of my time really. Tyson was a bit of both but i was too young to appreciate his younger better days.
