(off topic) Any Electricians in the not606 family??? (Mags most welcome)

im a plumber currentley on a job where i need a feed for a electric shower putting in if any one on here is a sparky or knows of one id be most grateful for any help with this

Are the mags welcome once the shower is fitted and the liver wire is connected to the water cupply?? Is that what you mean??

If there is not a feed in already, you will have to run a new feed in from the Distribution board. It depends on the KW rating of the shower but normally you will need 45a breaker, 10mm squared cable and then a pull switch (correct current rating), or a switch on the outside of the bathroom, then to the shower. I presume because your asking this you have not got your "Part P" therefore leagally you should'nt be putting in the electric side of the insulation.

I am a sparky but Industrial, not got my Part P but housebashing as its known in the trade was my bit on the side until they introduced the con they call part p. There are a few websites where you can get recomendations for local tradesmen, can't remember the names but if you google you'll find them. make sure they have their Part P certificate mind

 

the customer said he's going to try and find a sparky but im just trying to find a back and get a idea of what it'll cost. hes a old fella who lives by himself and its his en-suite not his main shower so if its going to be a fortune im going to advise against it

I couldn't give you a idea of a price. Since Part P house Electricians charges have risen and cost of cable has gone through the roof. It will depend on how difficult the cable run is, what size cable is needed, wether there is a spare place for a new breaker etc. Just google "find a tradesman" there a few site come up and get three quotes. No go for a mixer shower then ?

 

theres a old mixer shower fitted but its ****ed and the bright spark who put the immersion heater in has blocked any access to it from behind it, so even if i get old one off ive got no chance off being able to connect a new one with out ripping the wall to pieces and like i say hes a old guy who doesnt really need it done so im trying to keep it as hassle free as possible.

it would only be a short cable run as theres a electric shower in the next room so a junction box shouldnt be hard to position or so im told im just a plumber i leave the stuff that shocks ya to you brave souls

 

I would need to look it up but think it's a no go running from other shower, think it would need it's own supply and breaker and I think now junction boxes have all sorts of rules attached to them too. So don't be suprised if electrician says this

 

im happy to let a pro asses it and go from there mate, im just working off tit bits ive been told and most are turning out to be wrong which is why i keep away from electrics.
