I will certainly ponder your words, Abu. Excellent post and a great help. <ok>

Much more use than Jip's canine velocity post.

I once broke the leg of a chipmunk when I slammed closed a window through which said chipmunk was trying to escape. True story.

"The Parsons Jack Russel" is the longer legged variety and yes it is calmer and less likely to be a problem with other dogs, it also is more resilient against arthritis that the short legged version can sometimes suffer from.

Nope. My ex wife kept a pair of them for a while. The female of the pair developed an ear infection and couldn't keep it's head upright.

So, the male was trying to hop around with a smashed leg and the female was hopping around with it's head permanently glued to it's shoulder.

Looking back it's not as funny as I remember it to be.

Jack Russell's are bred for killing so not great pets. Yes they can be brilliant wih kids blah blah blah but if they do decide to attack then they go for the kill. This means that the damage they do can be comprehensive.

Being so small means that they can be easily dealt with.

Any breed of dog that has been bred to kill should be avoided. There is no doubt that you can own such a dog and have no problem what so ever with it. If, a problem occurs though these dogs will attack to kill.

What would you know about furniture, you scum bag Jock. The last time you seen decent furniture was when you tripped over a chair in the pub and ended up staring at the bottom of the seat you bag of ferret dropping's.

We had a Jack Russell for years, didn't breed them but allowed a suitor in occasionally and had a few litters and got white/brown and some all black ones..We all loved that dog but she went off on her and died probably,I believe that's what they do which was a pity 'cos she deserved a good burial. The next dog my da got was a Wicklow Collie and I loved that dog ,lovely placid yoke and I used to mind it when they went away. The missus has taken a shine to a Glen of the Mall terrior but we are out all day so personally don't think it's fair, was tempted if I can have the runt but at €800 a pop(pup) don't think so.

This is true, hence my Spaniel gun dog with soft mouth for retrieving birds, and sheep dog Collie. Don't get thinking a Collie cannot defend itself mind, they are also used to defending the herd from predatory types.
