Accepted. So as i was saying, Clyne in a Liverpool shirt. Should be announced officially in the very near future
Clyne. Disappointing, but to be expected. It would be a rare breed who picks us over Liverpool just yet. I was hoping the Koeman influence would sway the player. Along with out positive momentum. We just need to finish above them for a few seasons. And then who knows.
Most players would say they would like CL football....Clyne may just feel he has a better chance at Liverpool. Can't argue with that really. #triesnottovomit Or he may feel that he didn't want to stay here for another few years, so it was now or never. He gets to play in one of the big teams #defogoingtovomit and gets lots of lolly.
I think Clyne has been backed into a corner by declaring he wants CL football only to find out that none of the four CL clubs feel he is good enough. Even Manure who don't really have an EPL quality RB didn't want him for goodness sake. So failing that he had to either go to Scousehampton for a sizeable pay increase or stay with Saints and swallow his pride that he isn't regarded as highly by the countries top clubs as he thought
Clyne has a choice as a player. He doesn't have to move. You have a choice. Maybe Clyne's objectives have changed. He was looking to be a Champions League player, I believe. He obviously wanted to change.
People are making too big a deal of the whole Champion's League thing. Of course Clyne wants to play in the Champion's League, what pro footballer wouldn't? He could either play for us or Liverpool, and neither of us are CL teams. I think he will start for Liverpool, or at least he has every reason to believe he can. So playing time is not an issue. So with nothing to differentiate the teams (and I'm lying about that, let's be real Liverpool has a better chance of getting to CL than we do), my guess is that Liverpool offered him a far more lucrative long-term contract than we did. He made a choice that also benefits the club. Because he could have refused the transfer, played out his contract and left next year for nothing. If he had opted to stay next year, and then blew out his ACL would the club offer him another contract? We offered Rodriguez one, but I'm thinking if Pelle and Mane had scored 15 apiece it would have been a different story. Or if a CL club had come in for Rodriguez he might be gone. He still might be gone next year. I don't know why there seems to be this need to make Clyne out like he's a villain.
As far as I know, there are no Not606 forums rules which state that posters cannot paint ex-players as villains if they want to. I'm sure it'll all blow over. He's no Twatbeard, nothing like it. If there is a general consensus on here that wants to feel a tad aggrieved for 5 minutes over his leaving then I say let them get it out of their system now and not harbour it.
