According to Wikipedia (sorry again, @Lucaaas), he's had the qualifications for a UEFA Pro License since 2004. The following managers and coaches have passed the qualifications required in order to hold a UEFA Pro Licence, the highest-level managerial qualification in association football in Europe. It looks like it's Rodgers choice again - see my previous post. I think either he realised Pascoe wasn't up to the Liverpool job [cough ... like himself ... cough] and has made his second choice or ... the owners have got rid of Pascoe to make it look like they're doing something and have independently picked O'Driscoll. Got to say I'm really disappointed if this is the new assistant.
Ah right, didn't bother looking him up just saw in your op that he played for ROI ... good English name too
His record isn't poor though. What you have to remember is that in the lower levels of the game, the budgets these guys have to work with are miniscule. At Doncaster he was respected and was doing a decent job on one of the smallest budgets in the Championship until behind the scenes that bent agent McKay got involved and basically took over recruitment and wheeled in journeymen old pros who were looking for a shop window.
Can't we judge the **** on the job he does for us instead of judging him before hand. He's got the job so, wtf do you all want? People can turn it around, look at the Williams twin, ranked 80 in the world in tennis, chops off his dick, now she's the women's no1
Do you think he'll just be a yes-man to Rodgers or do you think he'll be his own man and criticise where necessary? Were you able to get a sense of his character at all?
He favours 433 but did you get any sense of whether he prefers a target man as CF or a fully interchangable front three?
At Liverpool, he will be a Yes Man - because it's the biggest job he will ever get and he daren't do anything to rock the boat. The fact we're talking about his time at Doncaster etc just shows you how small time this man is and has no place at this club. It's like signing Lambert, Ings and Bogdan ffs.
I suppose the positive is that he's more clued on the Postman Pascoe, so I don't think he will do a worse job. It's just frustrating because as with signings, we need to get coaching staff right - and we're more likely to succeed with proven quality than domestic dross.
I'd be alright with it, as he's a proper football man, who likes to play the game in the right way and he's got bags of experience. I can understand the underwhelmed attitude on here as well though, as most of you would have not heard of the bloke until today, and he's not the big name assistant that you probably would have expected. It's an interesting appt by Rodgers I have to say.
