Sorry didnt read properly. Assumed cop could only find mafia as that's what's you'd assume a cop can find.

So so cop can only find zombies? Guess chances of recruiting zombie day 1 are tiny so not much risk there

I agree with afc, I was the cop in Mafia 4 (I think) when Skylarker didn't log in and I took over, and if you direct traffic too much the mafia will just hide and you won't get too many reads on them.

I think the cop should leave the strategy alone for most of the day, but when it comes close to nightfall he takes charge to ensure there are no screwups. The bigegst threat is when multiple people try to maintain the tied vote and then they vote at the same time and get someone killed outright. They then look guilty and we lynch an innocent the next day.

I think the cop should make the call close to nightfall based on what's happening, and we should stick to his strategy, anyone screwing it up would look very guilty.
So the cop does not get too involved and the rest of us will do the usual voting thing, and there will maybe be 3 or 4 frontrunners for the lynch. Then with an hour or two to go the cop could say "OK guys, we're going to put A, B, C in a tied vote, so D and E you need to change your votes accordingly" etc, something like that perhaps? In my mind the mafia can't hide too much in that situation, it's not like the cop says at daybreak that we are voting for A, B and C today.

Order of actions is in the second post, now updated as I forgot the army ability to recruit and hunt zombies and mason recruiting:

    Order of actions
    1. Lynching occurs

    2. Cop acts (lock up or zombie hunting, can also recruit as a bonus action)

    3. Zombies act

    4. Mafia act

    5. Serial killer acts

    6. Hunter acts

    7. Army acts (zombie hunting and recruit)

    8. Masons recruit

    9. Investigations occur

    10. The newspaper will be published

So cop will recruit first, then Mafia, then army, then masons. It is possible for them all to recruit the same person, that person will be Mafia aligned, but can also have the ability to investigate and be part of the masons.

Basically any townie who is recruited to the Mafia is Mafia aligned, but retains any town powers they had. If the SK or SZ are recruited to the Mafia, they remain SK or SZ but gain access to the Mafia board and may gain an additional Mafia power.

People can have multiple powers, so the hunter could end up being the detective, for example. But then they have to choose which power to use each day. So the hunter would have to choose whether to kill or investigate in this example.

The exceptions are anyone recruited to the masons, who can use their voting power as well as any town or mafia power they may possess, and the cop who can recruit as well as carrying out their standard action of arresting or zombie hunting.

The cop cannot investigate. He can only lock up someone to protect them, or

The person the cop recruits is the detective, who can investigate. And can only investigate for Mafia.

    There are four investigative roles:

    1. Journalist can investigate for Mafia, doesn't find out about zombies
    2. Detective can be recruited by cop then can investigate for Mafia, doesn't find out about zombies
    3. Virologist can investigate for zombies, doesn't find out about Mafia
    4. Army recruit can be recruited by the army, then can investigate for zombies, doesn't find out about Mafia

If the journo is recruited by the army, or the virologist recruited by the detective, then their investigations will show both Mafia and zombie status.

Interesting idea, if that is possible then it would be the best solution! But the way I read the rules I assumed only the recruited detective can investigate, and not the cop. But maybe Bobby can ask Swarbs...

At least it will cut his chances of hiring scum from 5/18 to 2/18, and if he finds mafia he can out him. And we just lose one investigation if Bobby does this, so definitely the best solution if the cop can investigate. But as it wasn't listed as one of the cop's actions I doubt it is allowed...

A promise is a promise and I made this one over a sacrificial goat (Obi) at the last full moon (ACS) and therefore am obliged regardless of anything else to vote

LESS HOPE THAN NEVILLE ( NO CHANCE)

Would add that I won't be on much today due to work and an awards ceremony. Fingers crossed on the awards ceremony. Toon fans and Funky will know what that's about ( assuming they have a memory larger than an amoeba,( or is that an Ameobi?).

Hunting zombies is different from investigating. Investigating is done for live townspeople.

Hunting zombies is done once an infected has been lynched or SKed and has risen from the grave. Once this happens, the town will be informed who the zombie is, and they will no longer take part in lynch votes and cannot be lynched again.

Zombies can only be killed by being shot or decapitated if they try to bite the cop, private, serial killer, hunter (if they have bullets) and hitman (if they have bullets), or by being successfully hunted.

Hunting can be done by the cop, private, hunter (if they have bullets) and hitman (if they have bullets). It is basically their action for the night and gives them a 50% chance of finding the zombie and killing it.

If more than one people hunt the same zombie, the order of actions in post 2 applies.
